Where is the best beach in Sri Lanka?

Bentota, Heikadua, Marisa, Unawatuna, Negombo ... This string of coastal cities adorns the southern coastline of Lanka like pearls. Many friends have committed the choice syndrome and asked me: which beach is the best? Where is the best place to spend your holiday/take care of the elderly? Which is suitable for whale watching/diving? Everyone has different preferences. Generally speaking, I personally think that the farther south, about away from Colombo, the better the seawater quality. Let's analyze the differences between these beaches.

Advantages: rich activities, Bentota can play surfing, fishing, rafting, motorboat, sailing, sea fishing and other activities. In addition, drifting along the Bentota River and watching wild animals are also a highlight. This place is suitable for water sports enthusiasts and outdoor players who don't like to stay honest.

Disadvantages: The quality of seawater here is not very pleasing. In addition, because of the early development, there are many star-rated hotels in this place, but most of them are outdated and boring in design, and there is no such feeling as a small and fresh holiday. It is also not recommended that you take the "seaside train" to and from Colombo. There are many white-collar workers working in Colombo who live in Bentota. This section of the train is very crowded during the morning and evening rush hours. The scenery is bleak.

Transportation: Bentota is a city with very convenient transportation. Every day, several trains and countless long-distance buses from Colombo to southern Sri Lanka pass through here. There are many choices.

2.Hikkaduwa:

Located 99 kilometers south of Colombo. The biggest stunt here is "Underwater Coral Park", where you can sit on a glass boat and watch corals and fish swim. During the tourist season from June 1 1 to April of the following year, a large number of surfers and divers come here for their holidays. In the off-season from June to June every year, 10, the whole town also becomes depressed. Many hotels are closed, hotels are being renovated and the beaches are narrower.

Advantages: The earliest beaches were developed and there were many people in the peak season. In terms of facilities, diving schools, surf shops, high, medium and low-end inns and hotels are gathered. It's good to make an appointment with people from various countries here and get a diving card.

Disadvantages: How to put it? This place, the so-called underwater coral park, is full of dead corals. Inn merchants are scrambling to open stores, and vicious competition has seriously damaged the ecology. There are countless sacks piled on the beach. The quality of seawater is average.

Transportation: Starting from Colombo, there are several trains and countless long-distance buses passing through here every day. However, the railway station and bus station in the town are all in the north of the town, so you can take the Tuk Tuk bus to the seaside area where tourists are concentrated. It takes 20 minutes to walk. If you arrive in Heikadua by coach, you can inform the conductor in advance and ask them to put you in the seaside area.

3. Unawatuna

It's very close to the ancient city of Gower, and it only takes 20 minutes by car from Tu Tu. Foreigners especially like this place. It was flooded during the tsunami, and foreign friends also set up volunteer organizations to help it reply. Most hotels can also arrange to watch whales and turtles by boat, and there is a turtle breeding center near Unawatuna.

Advantages: This is my favorite beach. It has a crescent-shaped bay, so it is calm and the sea is shallow. The beach is good, the facilities are mature, and it won't be too noisy. In addition to the ancient city of Gower, there are several low-intensity hiking routes around. The overall style of play is very rich.

Disadvantages: Some beaches in Unawatuna are steep and not suitable for tourists with poor water quality.

Transportation: It takes about 20 minutes to take a taxi from Gaocheng Ancient City to DuDu.

4. Mirissa:

Melissa's theme is primitive and quiet. In fact, it is a very small village, which can be visited in ten minutes. This place is best for walking in a daze on the beach with some lovers, or reading and chatting. At the same time, Sri Lanka is one of the best whale watching places in the world. It is said that from February to April every year, the success rate of whale watching here is as high as 98%. In addition to blue whales, there are sperm whales, whale sharks and so on.

Disadvantages: Since many travel notes praised this beach, it has been crowded with tourists from China. Besides, one hotel after another near this small village is springing up, and I don't know how long this original quiet state can last.

Transportation: If you take a bus at Goyle Bus Station, you will arrive at Marisa. Any train from Galle to Mattler can reach Merissa.

5. Negombo:

Negombo is a seaside fishing village near Colombo. Its greatest advantage is its proximity to the airport, so it has become the first or last stop for many tourists. Another advantage is that many hotel groups have built many elegant and naturalistic hotels. High cost performance.

Disadvantages: However, due to its proximity to the urban area, the seawater here is very dirty. I think what is worth visiting here is not the beach, but the mini Catholic town and the beautiful lagoon nearby.
