Nanle Confucian Temple was built in Hongwu of Ming Dynasty for three years (1370), with a history of 645 years. It is the oldest and largest Confucian temple in Puyang, and was announced by Henan Provincial People's Government as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit in 2000.

Ming Hongwu three years (1370), founded by Ye, editor-in-chief of Nanle County, was not large at that time. In the fifth year of Yongle (1407) and the fourth year of Zheng Tong (1439), Zhou Yu, the magistrate of classical history, successively expanded his academic base, forming a large-scale architectural complex, from the southeast to the foot of the city wall, to the avenue in the west and to the Jingtu Temple in the north. During the years of Kangxi, Qianlong, Daoguang and Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, it was renovated on the original basis. The entire Qing Dynasty architectural complex has been well preserved so far.
