In addition to the inscriptions from the Northern Wei Dynasty, there are many other inscriptions from past dynasties that have survived in Datong. Among the epitaphs of the Tang Dynasty that have been unearthed in recent years, there are many fine works with excellent calligraphy and engraving; "Notes on the Reconstruction of the Main Hall of Dapuen Temple in Xijing, Jin Dynasty" written by Zhu Bian of the Southern Song Dynasty and written by Kong Gushu Dan in Shanhua Temple, as well as those standing side by side with it The great writer and calligrapher Dang Huaiying of the Jin Dynasty wrote "The Inscription and Preface to the Reconstruction of Sakyamuni Tathagata's Enlightenment Stele at Pu'en Temple in Xijing, Jin Dynasty" written in seals. They are masterpieces with grand shapes and exquisite calligraphy. Steles from the Ming and Qing Dynasties can be seen everywhere. The "Inscription on the Stone Buddha Temple" and the "Orderly Inscription on the Guanyin Hall" written by Wu Boyu, the household secretary during the Tianqi period of the Ming Dynasty, who is not famous for his calligraphy, are refreshing and radiant.

Zhu Xi, whose courtesy name was Yuanhui, later changed to Zhonghui, and whose nickname was Hui'an, also known as Ziyang, was a native of Wuyuan, Jiangxi, and was born in Youxi, Fujian. His father, Zhu Song, was appointed captain of Youxi County in the fifth year of Xuanhe of Song Dynasty (1123). During his term of office, he lived in the Zheng'an Taoist residence in Shuinan of the county. Zhu Xi was born on September 15th in the fourth year of Jianyan (1130). Zhu Xi was smart and studious since he was a child. At the age of 7, he moved to Jianzhou (now Jianou, Fujian) with his parents. When he was 14 years old, he followed his father's dying instructions and went to his friends Hu Xian and Liu Mianzhi in Chong'an County. Hu and Liu regarded Zhu Xi as their nephew, arranged their lives and taught him enthusiastically. Liu Mianzhi also married his daughter to Zhu Xi.
