A Brief Analysis of German Foreign Literature "A Fairy Tale in Winter"

Heine (1797- 1856), the most representative battle poem, is also a "poetic journey", which describes the poet's experiences and feelings in Germany after nearly 13 years in exile in France. This is not only a denial of William IV and Ferdinand I who dreamed of pursuing the German throne, but also a severe criticism of nationalism and quintessence advocated by liberals. It is also a sweeping away of the popular fantasy of expecting the rebirth of the Red Beard Emperor and an awakening of the people's revolutionary spirit. The long poem also strongly condemned the bourgeois habits of the German bourgeoisie and ordinary citizens. Under the violent control of German feudal rule and reactionary ideology, the bourgeoisie is very weak and the petty bourgeoisie sticks to the rules. In view of this situation, the poem regards the image of Han Mogna, the guardian goddess of Hamburg, as the embodiment of bourgeois philistine, saying that the "future of Germany" she yearns for only symbolizes the continued existence of the stinking "36 cesspits" in 36 German States, and scornfully ridicules the narrow, selfish and vulgar ideals of bourgeois philistine. While predicting that "the hypocritical old times are disappearing", long poems express their ardent yearning for a bright and happy future world: "A new generation is growing" and "We want to build a kingdom of heaven on the ground", encouraging people to choose the road of revolution in order to realize their beautiful ideals-long poems have great practical significance.
