Hutoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery is a cultural relic protection unit in Henan Province, a classic red tourism scenic spot, a patriotism education base, and a national defense education base.

Hutoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery: Hutoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery is located in the Jiutouya Scenic Area on the west side of the Yinji Town Government in Wugang City and the Ping (Dingshan) Zhu (Madian) Highway. Convenient and beautiful natural environment. The cemetery consists of two major functions: paying homage to the martyrs and sightseeing, and is well managed and protected.

In 1944, the Japanese invading army launched the Henan Campaign, and the Kuomintang troops retreated steadily. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China formulated the strategic decision to "unwind the Central Plains" and sent the main force of the 13th Brigade of the 5th Division of the New Fourth Army to the junction of Wuyang, Suiping and Biyang to open up Wu(yang) Bi(yang) Fang(City) Ye( County) Border Area Anti-Japanese Base Area, they fought several battles in Sowxia, Yinji, Dahanzhuang, Jigelou, Hutoushan and other places in Wugang City, wiping out more than 3,000 enemies. On February 9, 1945, in order to transfer more than 600 people, weapons, ammunition, food, cloth, etc. captured in the Sow Gorge battle, Huang Linbing, a battalion stationed at the transportation fortress from Wuyang to Suiping, was attacked by Luohe who came to retaliate. , Wuyang and other places, the Japanese and puppet troops made sneak attacks and launched a blocking battle in Hutoushan. The enemy troops carried steel cannons, machine guns and other light and heavy weapons and took turns attacking Hutoushan. The soldiers of our New Fourth Army resisted bravely and fought to the death with the enemy, fighting fiercely for two days and one night. After successfully completing the blocking mission, 27 New Fourth Army soldiers who died heroically were buried on Hutou Mountain by local people.

In order to commemorate the martyrs, the Wugang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to build a patriotic education base-Hutoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery. In October 2002, the first phase of the cemetery was completed, with a construction area of ??more than 5,000 square meters. The former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission personally inscribed the name of the martyrs cemetery. Later, it was expanded and repaired many times. The scene of the Martyrs Cemetery is grand and solemn. The main scenic area of ??the cemetery is divided into the martyrs' mausoleum paying homage area and the sightseeing area. The two are independent but complementary to each other. Among the green pines and green cypresses, 12 martyrs' tombs are white and neat, and the bones of 27 martyrs are buried. People remember and pay homage to the martyrs here all year round. The sightseeing area consists of the Martyrs Monument, Tour Platform, Arch Bridge, Square, Observation Deck, etc. The Monument to the Martyrs of the New Fourth Army is a heroic statue carved from white marble, showing the fearless heroism of the New Fourth Army soldiers who charged into battle and fought one after another. The pedestal is engraved with eight characters "Monument to the Martyrs of the New Fourth Army" and there is an inscription on the back. Between the arch bridge and the monument is a spacious memorial square. On the exhibition stand of the cemetery are retired aircraft and artillery donated by the former Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission and former Minister of National Defense.

The Hutoushan Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery is not only a solemn and traditional revolutionary education base to commemorate the martyrs, but also a tourist area to enjoy the wonders, dangerous roads and commemorate the anti-Japanese battlefield. There are two ways to enter the park, with different tastes; whether you take a car up the mountain or walk up the stairs, you can reach the main scenic spot.

The cemetery was named "Henan Province National Defense Education Base" by the Henan Provincial Government in October 2004. It was designated as a youth patriotism education base by Pingdingshan City in 2003. In November 2008, the Provincial Youth League Committee designated it as a "Henan Province National Defense Education Base". The Youth Patriotism Education Base was designated as a Chinese-History Education Base by Pingdingshan City in July 2013.
