Yixing belongs to Wuxi, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, and is managed by Wuxi City. Located at the southwest end of Jiangsu Province, in the center of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou triangle, it is connected to Taihu Lake in Suzhou to the east, Changxing County of Huzhou, Zhejiang Province to the southeast, Guangde City, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province to the southwest, Liyang City, Changzhou City to the west, and Changzhou to the northwest. It is connected to Jintan District of Changzhou City and to the north is connected to Wujin District of Changzhou City. The terrain is high in the south and low in the north, with a north subtropical monsoon climate. The city's total area is 1996.6 square kilometers.
