Introduction of Yingxian Wooden Pagoda on December 25, 221

Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, whose full name is "Buddha Temple Sakyamuni", is located in the Buddha Temple in the northwest of Yingxian County. The wooden pagoda was built in the second year of Qing Ning in Liao Dynasty (AD 156), and was completed in the sixth year of Jin Mingchang (AD 1195). It is an ancient wooden tower building in China. If you are an "ancient architecture enthusiast", then Yingxian Wooden Pagoda is the place you must come.

This octagonal wooden tower is about 6 meters high. Except for a four-meter-high stone abutment, all the other parts are made of wood. There is no nail or rivet, and all of them are built by tenons and mortises with traditional techniques. The wooden tower has five floors, with dark layers between them, which is actually nine floors. Each floor is supported by two circles of wooden columns inside and outside. There are 24 columns outside each floor and 8 columns inside. For more than 9 years, this wooden tower has survived storms, earthquakes and artillery bombardment, and still stands.

Because Yingxian Wooden Pagoda tilts every year, in order to protect it, tourists can't climb it now, but they can only visit it on the first floor, but this doesn't affect your appreciation of this Millennium Pagoda. At the bottom of the wooden tower, there are two doors, north and south. When you enter the first floor of the wooden tower, you can see a 11-meter-high Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, with a dignified face and a pleasant look. Looking up, you can see the exquisite and gorgeous algae well at the top. There are also six Tathagata Buddha statues painted on the wall of the inner groove, and King Kong and disciples are also painted on both sides of the doorway. The murals are bright in color and the characters are lifelike.

In addition to the architectural art here, the wooden pagoda in Yingxian County is also worth seeing. When you stand under the wooden tower and look up, plaques hang high under the eaves of the wooden tower. Among them, two plaques inscribed by the emperor are very attractive to tourists. One was inscribed by Zhu Di, the Ming emperor, when Zhu Di led an army to the Northern Expedition in the fourth year of Yongle (AD 146), stayed in Yingzhou (now Yingxian) and went to the city to enjoy the scenery. The other piece is the "Wonders of the World" inscribed by Zhu Houzhao, Emperor Wuzong of Ming Dynasty. It was written by Zhu Houzhao when the army of governors defeated the little prince of Tatar who had entered the fortress in Yanghe (now Yanggao County) and Yingzhou (now Yingxian County) in the third year of Zhengde (AD 158) and boarded the wooden tower to entertain the meritorious generals.

Wind chimes are installed under each eaves of the wooden tower. When there is wind, the wind chimes will sound in the wind, which is very pleasant to the ear. There is a temple behind the wooden tower. It is recommended not to go there. Some tourists report that the incense money there is ridiculously expensive.
