Shanxi, a small mountain village, known as the first village of Baiji Ancient Road, has gathered several hiking routes in two grand canyons.

The majestic Taihang Mountain is at the junction of Shanxi, Hebei and Henan provinces. In the pre-Qin period, this mountain range was the first in the world and was called Taihang Mountain. Taihang Mountain runs through the north and south, and there are many valleys in the east-west direction. It is called "Ji", which is a unique ridge of Ji (xíng) Mountain, where the mountains are interrupted. Taihang Mountain has eight dragons, which are eight throat passages across Taihang Mountain in Shanxi, Hebei and Henan provinces, and also an important military pass at the junction of the three provinces.

Shuangdi Village is located in Ma Dang Ge Township, lingchuan county City, Shaanxi Province. Located in the hinterland of Taihang Mountain, surrounded by mountains and with a basin in the middle. An abrupt small peak divides the basin bottom into two parts, with residential areas in the south and fields in the north. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, so it is called "double bottom". It has been a traffic fortress between Shanxi and Henan since ancient times. Near the village, there are the famous Heimaogou Grand Canyon, the Taxus Grand Canyon, the 72nd turn of the Bletilla Road, and Huang Wei Scenic Area, as well as several classic outdoor hiking routes and original ecological natural landscapes.

Bailong Ancient Road refers to the most well-preserved primitive ancient road with a total length of 100 kilometers and a history of more than 2,500 years from Shuangdi Village, Ma Dang Ge Township, Lingchuan County, Shanxi Province to Thin Wall, Huixian County, Henan Province. "Zuo Zhuan Xiang Gong Twenty-three Years" records: "Qi Hou then attacked Jin, took Chao Song, formed two teams, entered Mengmen and boarded Taihang." Qi Hou attacked Jin and took the ancient road of Baekje.

Historically, the ancient Bletilla striata road was not only a military artery, but also a channel for merchants to communicate. There is an inscription that says, "Luze County and its prosperous places from the northwest must be there", "The thin wall of Zhihui will pass through Jia, Xiuwu, Daqiwei, Bianliang, or the left side of the mountain", and this ancient road has also become the "Silk Road" in Taihang Mountain. Until 1968, the Grand Canyon was opened by a simple highway, which was the only way for local villagers to survive. The soil and water in Shanxi and Henan raised families at both ends of the ancient road.

Horseshoe to the south, people to the north, strolling on this Millennium ancient road, the sound of horseshoe prints is still there, but there are no people on the road that year.

Walking on the ancient road, you will be surprised to find that poetry and imagination are everywhere. Both the man-made landscape and the ingenious natural landscape complement each other.

From the west entrance of Baiji Ancient Road, there are two famous Heimaogou Grand Canyon, also known as He Shili Grand Canyon and Magdang Grand Canyon. It is one of the narrowest canyons in the South Taihang, with a length of about 10 Li, steep valley walls, overlapping peaks, deep and remote, and the narrowest part of the canyon is less than 5 meters wide.

The local villagers of He Shili Grand Canyon call it Heimaogou Grand Canyon. The name "black hair ditch" sounds a bit creepy. The rugged dark brown cliff stands on the cliff, squeezing the sky overhead and the road at the foot into a crack. Walking, you will be shocked by its precipitousness and intoxicated by its beautiful scenery.

Heimaogou Grand Canyon is also the favorite place of many self-driving enthusiasts and friends, attracting countless people to punch in every year and enjoy the most magnificent, thrilling and exciting canyon in South Taihang.

In the late 1980s, when Tieliang Shangguan, a lecturer of Shanxi University, led students to inspect the canyon in the east of Shuangdi Village, he found a "plant giant panda"-yew, which only grows in the south. Later, this canyon was called "Taxus Grand Canyon" and was approved as a provincial nature reserve in June 2002.

From Shuangdi village to the east, through a field, you will reach the Taxus Grand Canyon. The river bed of the Grand Canyon is wide, and clear streams flow in the mountains, sometimes running down, sometimes as still as a stagnant pool. If you catch up with the rainy season, Xiaohukou Waterfall is even more beautiful and the scenery is beautiful.
