When was Hainan Island established as a province?

Hainan Island was set aside from Guangdong Province on April 3, 1988 and became an independent province.

During the establishment of the province, Hainan Province and Hainan Special Economic Zone were formally established.

Hainan Special Economic Zone is the largest and only provincial special economic zone in China.

First, Hainan:

Hainan, referred to as "Qiong" for short, is a provincial administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC), with Haikou as its capital.

Hainan Province is located at the southernmost tip of China, bordering Qiongzhou Strait in the north, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Vietnam in the west, Taiwan Province Province in the South China Sea in the east, and the Philippines, Brunei and Malaysia in the southeast and south respectively.

Sansha City in the province is a prefecture-level city with the southernmost geographical position, the largest total area (including sea area), the smallest land area and the least population in China.

Also known as Qiongya and Qiongzhou, in 1 10 BC, the central government set up Zhu Ya County and Boer County in Hainan Island, which were under the jurisdiction of JIAOZHOU secretariat, marking the formal incorporation of Hainan into Chinese territory.

Second, the administrative divisions:

As of September 20 15, there are 27 cities and counties (districts) in Hainan province, including 4 prefecture-level cities, 5 county-level cities, 4 counties, 6 autonomous counties, 8 districts and 2 18 townships (including street offices).

Among them, township 2 1, town 175, and 22 sub-district offices.

Third, Hainan folk festivals:

The residents of Hainan Province include more than 30 nationalities including Han, Li, Miao, Hui, Yi, Dong and Yao.

There are Li, Miao, Hui and Han nationalities living in the world.

For thousands of years, the primitive and unique ethnic customs have enriched the social outlook of the island.

Among them, the most distinctive is the life customs of the Li nationality.
