It's the peak season to go to Hainan. Sanya has two famous beaches, Yalong Bay and Dadonghai. Yalong Bay is more beautiful, and the resorts are relatively concentrated, occupying most of the beaches. So living there is very comfortable, close to the sea, and the facilities and services inside are first-class. For example, the cactus hotel is where I once stayed. There are three fish treatment pools and swimming pools in the exclusive village, surrounded by three-story buildings in Southeast Asian style. The hotel has a special battery car to pick up and drop off the beach. The hotel is located on the beach, and you can see the sea even if it takes less than 3 minutes to walk. However, such hotels are expensive, generally ranging from 1000 to 4000 a night. So if you want to be near the seaside, I'm afraid you can't get a cheap price. If the price is the highest, I suggest you live near the city and then take a taxi to the seaside during the day, but you can only go to public beaches, and the environment and enjoyment are far less than those of resort hotels.

There is a big difference between Sanya and Haikou. Sanya is a pure tourist city. There is no industry in the whole city, so hotels and restaurants can be seen everywhere. But hotels near the sea are very expensive, basically five-star, and it is unrealistic to want to be near the sea. The water quality in Haikou is much worse than that in Sanya, because it faces north and often faces Leizhou Peninsula, and ferries often pass by. Vacation in Haikou is not recommended.

Traffic. It's inconvenient to go by car. First, you have to cross Guangxi into Guangdong, and then go south to Zhanjiang. You need to cross the sea by ferry, which takes a lot of time. It takes only 8 hours from Zhanjiang to Sanya, which is a waste of time. Driving from Guangzhou to Sanya in April 2009, 10 hour, very tired. So I suggest flying. Because even if you take the train, you have to take the ferry to cross the sea, and the time consumption is still very large.
