As a tourism major, will you become a tour guide after graduation?

After graduating from a tourism major, you may not necessarily become a tour guide. As someone who also graduated with a major in tourism, I have a fair say in this topic. When we enter university, the teacher will introduce us to the employment prospects of this major and give us a detailed introduction to what jobs we can do. Similarly, although you choose this major, it does not necessarily mean that you will engage in something related to the major in the future.

First of all, let’s talk about what other jobs you can do after graduating from the tourism major besides being a tour guide. First of all, there are many types of jobs in tourism-related industries, such as travel planners who design travel routes, travel planners who coordinate overall travel planning, travel consultants who provide travel consulting services to tourists, etc. The tourism industry is not just a tour guide profession. It is a whole that is connected by all aspects. Therefore, students who are interested in tourism can make a bold choice with confidence.

Secondly, many graduate surveys reflect that most graduates are not engaged in anything related to their major. Take my original class as an example. There were about 200 people in our entire major, and now less than one-fifth are engaged in tourism. Some of them changed careers and became teachers, some became civil servants, and some chose to start their own businesses. So we don’t need to characterize a major, it is just an accumulation in our life.

Many people choose tourism majors probably out of the same love for tourism as I did, but when you really get into this industry, you will find that the gap between ideals and reality is so big. So big. So if you have a strong heart and want to experience various challenges, studying tourism and working in the tourism industry is a good opportunity to take your life experience to another level.

Finally, I would like to give some advice from my predecessors. It is best to think carefully before making a choice, so as not to regret changing your major when the time comes.

At the same time, the tourism industry also has its wonderful features. Whether it is a tour guide or other types of work, there are unlimited possibilities, so if you love it, then choose it!
