A trip to Windsor Castle
Windsor Town is located 35 kilometers west of London, near the south bank of the Thames, and is famous for the Queen's visit. This is the largest inhabited castle in the world, and the highest honor "Guardian Knight Medal" was awarded to the British kings of past dynasties. It is also full of romance because of the legend that Edward VIII "doesn't love mountains and rivers and loves beauty". Windsor, which contains classical romance, is a beautiful name, beautiful and noble. In Windsor, many people want to see this legendary castle and the luxury and wealth of the British royal family. British people are used to calling the town where Windsor Castle is located "King City" because it is where the king and queen live. I visited many castles in England. These castles have a long history and great momentum. In particular, each castle has its own legendary story, which casts a mysterious veil on each castle.
After more than an hour, our bus arrived in Windsor. When I arrived at Windsor Castle, tourists from all directions were waiting to visit it before the castle opened. After a while, the gate of the castle slowly opened. I lined up with tourists to pass the security check and enter the castle.
Windsor Castle, located in a small town in Berkshire, southeast England, is a group of magnificent buildings on the hills on the south bank of the Thames. It was originally built by William I in 1070 to protect the safety of ships and royal family members on the Thames. It has been a king's palace since 12 century. Like Buckingham Palace in London and Hollywood Palace in Edinburgh, Windsor Castle is the main administrative residence of the British monarch. Through the continuous expansion of kings in past dynasties, Windsor Castle has become a huge castle complex with many exquisite buildings by the first half of the 9th century. Windsor Castle is the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world. This is one of the official residences of the Queen. More than 900 years of British history are concentrated in this castle attraction.
The castle is divided into three parts. Shangqu refers to the eastern areas such as state apartments, private apartments and the south wing, and mainly includes palace furnishings such as Waterloo Hall (ballroom), Queen's Friendship Hall (ballroom), galleries and Queen Mary's Doll's House. The magnificent national suite is decorated with many precious works of art from the royal collection, including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, canaletto and gainsborough. The Waterloo Hall was built to celebrate the victory of the Battle of Waterloo. In the spacious and tall rectangular hall, the walls are covered with portraits of British war generals who made great achievements in the Battle of Waterloo, and huge flower-shaped mercury chandeliers are hung on the roof. This banquet hall is also one of the main venues for major events held by the British royal family. Shakespeare's famous play The Merry Wives of Windsor was premiered in this hall.
The central area is the heart of Windsor Castle. The most obvious sign is a round tower built in the12nd century, which stands as a landmark in the castle. Whenever the Queen comes to Windsor Castle, the flag of the British royal family will be raised here.
The lower area includes the western area, such as St George's Church, horseshoe cloister, King Henry VIII's Gate, Edward III Tower and curfew tower. St George's Church, built in the 0/4th century A.D./KLOC, is a masterpiece of English Gothic architecture, and is famous for its exquisite and colorful stained glass. Many kings and queens are buried here, such as Edward IV of England, Henry VIII, Charles I, George III, George IV, George V and George VI in England.
Walking on the path of the castle, I feel the solemnity and solemnity of the city wall. I always feel that every brick and stone contains endless mysterious stories. Every room has staged thrilling legends, and every path has its own unique allusions. At Windsor Castle, we often see the changing ceremony of soldiers. Accompanied by a military band, soldiers in bright red traditional uniforms and bearskin hats marched to Windsor Castle on the street, presenting the grand ceremony.
The extraordinary Windsor, while deducing power and luxury from generation to generation, also deduces a shocking love story. Although Windsor is famous for its castle and the romantic love story of "not loving mountains and loving beauty". At the beginning of the 20th century, Edward VIII ascended the throne and met an American married woman, Mrs Simpson. The infatuated king was attracted by her beauty and elegant temperament, and chose to give up the land of the British Empire, from the monarch of a country to the Duke of Windsor, to leave the British Isles and secretly marry his beloved woman, becoming the most criticized couple in the British royal family. Edward VIII abdicated and lost all kingship, only being named Duke of Windsor. The Duke of Windsor stayed with his lover in Windsor Castle for several months, and both of them went to France to settle down until their death. This love affair of "not loving mountains and loving beautiful people" not only made the castle famous, but also added a touch of romance to Windsor. The ambiguous feelings between people make this luxurious mansion more charming.
It is reported that Prince Harry of England and American actress Meghan markel got married in St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2065438. The groom, Prince Harry, wears a military uniform, and Harry has his signature beard. The bride Megan appeared in a white wedding dress and a veil. This highly anticipated wedding of the century attracted more than 654.38 million people to Windsor Town. Millions of people around the world watched the live broadcast of the wedding, and millions of them even slept on the streets of Windsor for a night to ensure the best viewing position and quietly waited to watch this "fairy tale wedding". Under the witness of the whole world, Harry and Megan made a lifelong commitment to each other in the church.
After visiting Windsor Castle, come to Windsor Town and feel the style of the town. The quiet streets in the town are lined with shops. Windsor is the most famous royal town in Britain, and there is a bronze statue of Queen Victoria in the center of the town. Up to now, the town still maintains a lot of English medieval characteristics, centering on Windsor Castle and surrounded by traditional English architecture, which makes people feel like they have entered the scene of a movie.
Windsor Town and Eton Town face each other across the river and are connected by a footbridge. The former is famous for its Royal Castle, while the latter is famous for Eton College. Eton College is the most famous public school in Britain. Founded by King Henry VI of England in 1440. As a preparatory school to enter King's College of Cambridge University, it gradually became a famous British school in the17th century. For hundreds of years, members of the British royal family have been sending their boys to Eton College for education. It has produced 20 British prime ministers, trained poet Shelley and economist Keynes, and is also the alma mater of Prince William and Prince Harry. Eton College also has a long history of gentleman culture. A major feature of the college is that all boys have to wear beautiful tuxedo uniforms, which has become a unique landscape in the town.
Windsor, a beautiful town, the wild ducks on the Thames are swimming happily and rippling, and the whole picture is like a paradise. It is near dusk, and the afterglow of the sunset shines on this ancient town. The castle in the sunset is more mysterious and dreamy.
