Development background of Liangzidao

Liangzi Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in Hubei Province and one of the top ten famous lakes in China. The lake covers an area of 2085 square kilometers and is the origin of the famous Wuchang fish. Liangzi Island is a small island in Liangzi Lake. It looks like a shoe, with an area of about 2.2 square kilometers and 2,500 residents. In 1990s, Ezhou began to develop tourism resources of Liangzi Lake as a whole. In April of 20001year, Liangzi Town was renamed as Liangzidao Eco-tourism Zone, and the overall planning, feasibility study report and environmental impact report of Liangzihu Eco-tourism Project were completed one after another, and all of them passed the evaluation of provincial experts. At present, Liangzidao Eco-tourism Zone has become one of the top ten key tourist resorts in Hubei Province, and has been included in the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" for tourism development in Hubei Province.
