The history of Yongchun Yunlong Bridge
Yunlong Bridge is located on Taoxi River south of Yongchun Chengguan in Fujian Province. It was built in the 13th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1143) by the county magistrate Lin Pin. It is famous as Zhizheng Bridge. In the sixth year of Chunxi (1179), the county magistrate Chen Honggui rebuilt it and renamed it Yunlong Bridge. The bridge is more than 30 feet long (about 100 meters).
Since then, Yunlong Bridge has been damaged and rebuilt many times. In the Yimao year of Wanli (1615), it was rebuilt by Xia Zhong, the magistrate of the county. By the end of the Ming Dynasty, it was completely burned down due to military disasters. It was converted into a temporary bridge, commonly known as a water bridge.
In the 1930s, Chen Guohui, the leader of the Southern Fujian Civilian Army, occupied Yongchun and started planning to build the bridge again. It took a year to complete the construction of the new Yunlong Bridge, which was made of reinforced concrete.
In 1977, the state allocated 465,000 yuan to rebuild it near the downstream of the original bridge. It was completed and opened to traffic in 1978. Because it was the longest bridge in early Yongchun, it was named "Yongchun Bridge". In 1990, it was restored to "Yunlong Bridge".

The reconstruction process of Yunlong Bridge:
Before 1930, there were no modern bridges built with reinforced concrete structures in Yongchun; Buildings built with reinforced concrete are also rare. At that time, the construction committee decided to use the reinforced concrete bridge construction method and chose a small ditch at the entrance of Rulin Thermal Power Station to build a small reinforced concrete bridge as a test. As a result, the bridge is solid and can be opened to traffic safely.
The scale of Yunlong Bridge is quite large. At that time, the construction cost was not yet fully understood. Only some of the remaining steel bars after the completion of Xi'an Bridge could be used. There was no other source, so the construction committee asked Zheng Gua, a businessman in the city. Borrowing 5,000 kilograms of cement, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on the Mid-Autumn Festival in 1930, and then active fundraising methods were adopted to raise funds.
Successfully received donations from all walks of life, allowing the construction project to proceed quickly and smoothly. This new Yunlong Bridge was completed in just one year. The bridge deck is 120 meters long and 8 meters wide. There are pedestrian walkways on the left and right sides, the middle is open to traffic, and there are handrails on the sides, which is quite spectacular. The total construction cost is 70,000 yuan, and most of them come from Yongchun Xiangxian from home and abroad.
After the completion of Yunlong Bridge, it will be beneficial to the development of Quan Yongde's transportation industry, greatly promote the economic prosperity and development of Yongchun, and also add to the scenery of Yongchun.
