How long is the tourist passport valid?

A tourist passport shall be determined according to the different circumstances and needs of the holder, but the longest period shall not exceed ten years. It can be extended before the expiration, but each extension shall not exceed the original validity period of the passport.

I. Types of Passports

The passport of the People's Republic of China is a document for People's Republic of China (PRC) citizens to enter and leave the country and prove their nationality and identity abroad. Passports of the People's Republic of China are divided into diplomatic passports, official passports, ordinary passports and SAR passports.

Official passports are divided into official passports and ordinary official passports. SAR passports are divided into Hong Kong SAR passports and Macao SAR passports. Diplomatic passports, official passports and ordinary official passports are collectively called "official passports", and ordinary passports are commonly called "personal passports".

Second, the validity period of different passports (tourist passports)

Passports are not permanent documents, and they all have a certain period of validity. Passport is valid if it is a legally valid document within the validity period, otherwise it is invalid and has no legal effect.

1. When issuing visas, embassies (consulates) in all countries require that the validity of passports must be more than six months. If the passport is valid for less than six months, you must first apply to the public security organ for extension, and then apply for a visa at the embassy or consulate.

2. The travel passport shall be determined according to the different conditions and needs of the holder, but the longest period shall not exceed ten years. It can be extended before the expiration, but each extension shall not exceed the original validity period of the passport.

3. Passports of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region shall be valid for ten years, and passports issued to children under the age of 16 shall be valid for five years.

3. The travel passport is valid for no more than 6 months. Is there a problem leaving the country?

Generally speaking, when leaving the country, there is no special requirement for the validity of the passport at the border inspection. But what you need to know is that the passport is valid for minutes, which involves entry after arriving in the destination country-yes, even if you have a visa, it doesn't mean you can definitely enter the country!

Because each country has different requirements for the length of passport validity at the time of entry inspection (generally more than 6 months, or more than 3 months), the validity period is calculated from the departure date and also from the arrival date, so travelers must first confirm the entry requirements of the destination to ensure that the validity period of the passport meets the entry requirements of the destination country, otherwise it is very likely that the visa will be refused when boarding the plane. Even if you can successfully check in and pass the border inspection in China, travelers may still be refused entry when they arrive at their destination.
