Introduction to attractions

The Li Jinyong Ancestral Hall in Mohe County is located on a mountainside to the west of Jingou Forest Farm in Mohe County. It was built in 1998. In front of the ancestral hall, there are long steps leading to the bottom of the mountain, with pines, cypresses and green grass on both sides. The entire ancestral hall is made of wood, with carved beams and painted pillars, and flying eaves and walls. The five golden characters "Li Jinyong Ancestral Hall" on the black plaque are vigorous and powerful. The ancestral hall has four doors, two windows and one front. Because Li Jinyong is known as the "Golden Saint", gold diggers must come here to worship before prospecting for gold. It has also become a must-visit place for tourists. Go up the steps and enter the courtyard, and the main ancestral hall is right in front of you. There is a plaque of "Li Jinyong Ancestral Hall" inlaid with gold above the eaves and below the door. The couplets on both sides of the doorposts read: "Cai'anbian brings merit and virtue, pays attention to the past and present, seeks truth, protects neighbors and governs the universe." There is a statue in the hall wearing a uniform. The statue of Li Jinyong in official uniform sitting on a tiger-skin chair is surrounded by plaques and couplets inscribed by celebrities, recording Li Jinyong's life. Under the tablet, there are offerings offered by gold diggers. The east and west wings on both sides of the main hall are the merit hall and the staff hall, which display the biographies of Li Jinyong, Yuan Dahua and others, the development history of Mohe Gold Factory, the gold mining process, the machines, tools and cultural relics used, etc.

Character introduction——Li Jinyong

Li Jinyong (1835-1890), a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, whose real name was Qiu Ting, and whose nickname was Yuyi. He went into business with his father in his early years, and later donated money to his official position. Because of his integrity and meritorious service in disaster relief, he was transferred from Zhili to Changchun as the prefect. In April 1887, on the recommendation of Li Hongzhang, he was transferred from Changchun to Heilongjiang to build the Mohe Gold Mine. After taking dozens of people to Mohe, he obtained first-hand information on the construction of the mine and calculated the "Discussing the Articles of Association of the Heilongjiang Gold Factory Company." He actively traveled to Tianjin, Shanghai, Yantai and other places to raise funds, recruit miners, purchase machinery, raise and transport food and arms, and made extremely thoughtful and detailed plans for mine construction. In October 1888, Li Jinyong led nearly a thousand colleagues and miners to Mohe. First, a desert mining camp was established to train the army, then a gold mine was established, and mountain sacrifices were started.

Achievements

Li Jinyong was neither humble nor arrogant towards the Russian bandits. He was resourceful and spoke out for justice, making Russia fearful of power and making the Mohe Gold Mine the most successful mining industry in modern times, famous throughout the country. Li Jinyong devoted himself to mining diplomacy, worked hard, and became ill from overwork. He died of illness in Mohe on August 14, 1890, at the age of 56. "Search and secure the border for benefit, use the past for the present, do justice, seek truth from facts, be virtuous, and govern the world." This is the praise of the world for serving as an official, prospering the border with industry, driving the bandits to be patriotic, and stabilizing the territory. Because Li Jinyong is known as the "Golden Saint", gold diggers in the past would come here to worship before prospecting for gold, and this place has become a tourist attraction.
