What interesting places do you recommend in Kunming?
This time, I finally got a chance to see Kunming again. From strolling through Cuihu Lake in the morning to experiencing the nightlife of Spring City in Kunming Old Street in the evening, the city has always maintained a unique "carefree" and "detached".
Huge waves of lake light
A good day begins with a walk by the green lake. At 7: 30 in the morning, Cuihu is much quieter than during the day. The blue sky is reflected on the lake, weeping willows sway gently in the wind, and the lush jacaranda adds a touch of purple to the green. Cuihu is named "Cuihu" because of its green water on all sides, bamboo in all seasons and green willows in spring and summer.
There are not only green scenery here, but also rich cultural atmosphere. Yunnan Library's retro high-rise buildings are particularly high. The former sites of Yunnan University and The National SouthWest Associated University are not far from the lake. At that time, Shen Congwen and Zhu Ziqing used to drink tea here, ask for books and talk about the past and the present.
The yellow exterior wall of Yunnan Military Academy is extremely eye-catching. This is a famous military academy in the modern history of China, which started at 1909.
What is worth mentioning here is the National Southwest Associated University. 1937 after the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai universities moved to Changsha and Kunming successively to form the National Southwest Associated University, where scholars and professors such as Chen, Zhu Ziqing, Hua and Zhou Peiyuan taught. It was not until 1946 that the three universities returned to Ping Jin in the north. The nine-year existence of National Southwest Associated University has had an impact on the politics, culture and life of Kunming. Some places mentioned below have left something related to these scholars more or less.
Today's Cuihu no longer needs to witness the ups and downs of history, but reflects a peaceful scene every day. The crisp birdsong in the early summer morning, Tai Chi music played by morning exercisers, or the radio broadcast by the elderly constitute the unique melody of the early morning in Spring City. People who play Tai Chi, tennis, cricket and badminton by the lake are all so sunny and healthy.
When it comes to lakes in Kunming, we must see the scenery of Dianchi Lake. In June, the Daguan Park is full of flowers, Xia Feng is breezy, and the lake is sparkling, calm and rhythmic.
Daguan Park is located in the southwest of Kunming and the northernmost part of Dianchi Lake. Named after the Grand View Building, it has the reputation of "Li Yunshan Yishui Building".
The most famous Daguanlou is 180 "The First Long Couplet in Ancient and Modern Times" inscribed by Sun Ranweng, a famous teacher in Qing Dynasty. The first half is about scenery, and the second half is about history. The beauty of Dianchi Lake blends with the vicissitudes of Yunnan history, which is worth savoring. The couplet "There is a monarch in the east, a spirit in the west, a snake in the north, and a Sue in the south" depicts the Golden Horse Mountain in the east, a chicken dance in the west, a snake mountain with snakes winding in the north, and a crane flying like a crane in the south. And the natural beauty of "fragrant rice on all sides, clear sand on all sides, lotus flowers in September and willows in March".
The second part traces the history of Yunnan, starting with four allusions: Lou Chuan, Yu Fu and Yuan Ge 'ang. In order to conquer Erhai Lake, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty built Kunming Lake in Chang 'an, built ships and trained the water army. Tang Zhongzong fought against Tubo, recovered Erhai Lake, and set up an iron column to record the meritorious military service; Song Taizong, holding her husband, divided the territory outside the Dadu River into the Northern Song Dynasty; Yuan Shizu led his troops to cross the river on a raft, leveled Dali and brought Yunnan back to the central dynasty.
The change and evolution of dynasties will eventually move towards stability. People who come to Daguan Park now seldom visit and discuss history in the face of quiet natural beauty, but enjoy and appreciate this comfortable life.
You can take a raft and feel the vast waves of plateau lakes; You can also sit on the high Ferris wheel overlooking the surrounding green landscape of Kunlun Mountain and Daguan Park.

After visiting the nature park
There are classical things in the name of Oriental Bookstore. Since the establishment of 1926, many famous literati have visited here. Above the bookshelf are pictures of Wen Yiduo, Lin, Lin Yutang, Hu Shi and others who frequented this old Oriental Bookstore during their time at National Southwest Associated University.
Literature books are mainly sold here, and there are many second-hand books. As an old bookstore that records the changes of Kunming city, my favorite is the old photo postcards of the city sold here. Each postcard has an introduction to the corresponding street or building.
With the rapid development of the times, time seems to have solidified all the good things in the past. Whether it is a book or a painting, those records about the city's past are more like precious old wine, which locks the cherished memories of a city or some people. I like the sentence on the card on my desk: "One day you and I will become each other's old things."
This is also an attitude bookstore, and it says "Eight Don't Sell" at the door: no chicken soup for the soul, no inspiration for success, no cultivation of immortals, no unofficial history, no gangster raiders, no wealth, no health preservation and no fortune telling. As for books, there are also exclusive book reviews here. Look carefully, it's very interesting.
It's another bookstore in Wuhua District. You can stay for a long time. Elephant bookstore, just listen to the name, you can feel the obvious difference with the former. It is more modern, interesting and imaginative.
This is a bookstore hidden underground.
Besides literature, there are more books about architecture, design and lifestyle. There is also a special bookshelf called "Related to Kunming". What's interesting here is that each bookshelf is equipped with a citation related to this category number, which seems to connect multiple time and space. For example, the photo rack said that "photos may be more memorable than moving images because they are cut neatly, not flowing", which was mentioned in susan sontag's On Photography. So we can find those locked moments in every photo album.
A glimpse of the old street
First of all, what I want to talk about here is not the Kunming old street named "Old Street", but the ordinary city street that has really experienced the evolution of time. Xunjin block is located on the west bank of Panlong River in the urban area. The name of this street can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty. Because the Panlong River overflowed all the year round, Yunjin Dike was built. The current "patrol Tianjin" is to patrol the banks of the Yunjin River.
Xunjin Street is also the earliest block in Kunming that opened to the other side. Longjiang runs through the city from north to south, with Jinjin Street on the west bank and Yunnan-Vietnam Railway on the east. They become the basis for establishing exchanges with foreign businessmen such as Vietnam. There is a saying in "18 eccentrics in Yunnan" that "the train will not go abroad without passing through the territory", which refers to the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway.
So there are many old-fashioned small buildings left here. Lin and Liang Sicheng lived here for some time. Many of their close friends, such as Jin, Zhu Ziqing and Shen Congwen, often get together here.
Nowadays, great changes have taken place in the streets, leaving only a few small buildings to record the vicissitudes of life. Building a wall outside the building, it is interesting that the murals on the wall give the old street a new modern fashion and artistic atmosphere, and also add a lot of literary atmosphere to the block.
Just as it took the lead in trading "following the fashion", this place has not been submerged in the development of the times, but has become one of the "online celebrity streets" in Kunming today with another look, and more and more young people come here. The old street is not old, and it exudes new vitality.
To say that the old street has the best preservation of its original features, it still belongs to Kunming Old Street. This is the largest block in Kunming, with the largest number of buildings in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, and it is also the most capital in appearance, so it is called "old street". Rugged stone roads, mottled walls and old-fashioned folding wooden doors have slowed down time here.
Lane 6 15 in the block retains the traditional residential settlements, the memorial hall for the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the Confucian Temple, forming a pattern of streets, churches and temples. The oldest is Guanghua Street. At one end of the street, there is an iconic "Golden Cup" building, and two symmetrical buildings surround the Anti-Japanese War Victory Memorial like wine glasses.
There is a blessing temporary church on Guanghua Street, which was built in 1857 and has a history of 10 years.
In addition to Fu Lin Hall, there are 97-year-old Majia Courtyard and Nie Er's former residence, which was born in 19 12. In the old block. There are more than 100 historical buildings of various sizes.
Guanghua Street also has several popular time-honored food shops, where you can taste local specialties such as iced powder, rice cloth, bean curd skin rice flour and pea powder in old Kunming. The delicious meaty rice noodles and sweet but not greasy rice cloth have a longer memory of Kunming preserved in the taste.
Although Kunming has always had the reputation of four seasons like spring, its presence is really low in many tourist cities. I finally have time to get to know it, but I still don't have much heartache. But it is this infection that makes me like this city.
