Three-day tour of Suzhou and Hangzhou

Suzhou city introduction

Suzhou, referred to as Gusu and Pingjiang for short, is a prefecture-level city and megacity under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. It is an important city in Shanghai metropolitan area and Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area. It is one of the important central cities in the Yangtze River Delta, a national high-tech industrial base and a scenic tourist city approved by the State Council. It is located in the east of China, in the middle of the Yangtze River Delta, in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, bordering Shanghai in the east, Zhejiang in the south, Taihu Lake in the west and the Yangtze River in the north.

In 589 AD, Emperor Wendi changed the name of Wujun in Gusu Mountain to Suzhou, and gusu district in Suzhou is the first national historical and cultural city protection zone in China. Since the Spring and Autumn Period, Wu Zixu built a river in Lvcheng, Suzhou City has basically maintained a double chessboard pattern with water and land parallel and river streets adjacent, with small bridges, flowing water, pink tiles and historical gardens with their own characteristics.
