The two routes are almost the same, basically with expressway. The total mileage from Wuhan and Yichang to Chengdu is 200 kilometers shorter than that from Xi to Chengdu.

From Shanghai to Chengdu via Wuhan, the big cities along the way are Nanjing, Hefei, Lu 'an, Wuhan, Yichang, Enshi and Nanchong. Among them, Tiantangzhai in Jinzhai County near Lu 'an is a scenic tourist area developed in recent years. This is a very nice place. From Shanghai to Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway-G42, follow G42 to Yichang, turn G50, and reach Chengdu. The whole journey is 1960 km. On the way, it is suggested that the first stop should be 700 kilometers to Jinzhai County and visit Tiantangzhai 1 for 2 days. The second stop is 750 kilometers to Enshi City, Hubei Province. The third stop is more than 600 kilometers from Enshi to Chengdu.
