Map of Jilin Province.

Jilin Province, referred to as "Ji" for short, is located in the northeast of China. Since the pre-Qin period, the central governments of all dynasties have placed Jilin under the jurisdiction of administrative regions.

The county was established in the Han Dynasty, and in the Tang Dynasty and later Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, there were also states, prefectures and counties in the Bohai Sea. In the Ming Dynasty, Dusi and Weisuo were established. 1653 (the tenth year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty), the Qing government established Ningguta Anbang Zhangjing, which was the beginning of the establishment of Jilin Province. The establishment of this building is the first time that Jilin has the prototype of provincial construction, which is a milestone in the history of Jilin's development.

In A.D. 1662 (the first year of Qing Emperor Kangxi), it was renamed General Ningguta. 1673 (in the 12th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty), Jilin City (now Jilin City) was built in the shipyard, which was called "Jilin Wula" (transliteration in Manchu means "along the river"), hence the name Jilin. 1676, General Ningguta moved the capital to Jilin City. 1757, General Ningguta was renamed Jilin General. Since then, "Jilin" has expanded from the original city name to the administrative name. In A.D. 1907 (thirty-three years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty), it was formally established as Jilin Province.
