Abstract: Tourism occupies a large proportion in China's economy. However, due to the cultural differences between the East and the West, tourism translation also exposes various problems. For example, the translation of tourist materials, English public signs, traditional snacks and tourist attractions are all important links in tourism cultural exchange, and can only be applied if it is confirmed that there will be no misunderstanding. Therefore, the translator plays an important role. This paper puts forward this view to promote the development of tourism in China. The ancient and mysterious China culture attracts a large number of foreign tourists to China every year, which promotes the development of China's tourism economy. The translation of tourism materials has become an important link in tourism cultural exchange. The translation of tourist materials is a cross-border, cross-cultural and cross-social publicity activity. Translators play an important role, but at the same time, they are faced with various difficulties caused by cultural and linguistic differences among countries. A translator should have knowledge of language, social culture, folklore, aesthetics, psychology, market economics and advertising principles. At present, there are still many problems in the English translation of China tourism materials. Shown in the following points: spelling grammar errors; Improper wording; Abuse of Chinese Pinyin and Chinglish; Improper handling of cultural information and so on. Tourism information is a kind of propaganda information, whose function is to introduce the geographical and historical background and cultural characteristics of tourist destinations to readers, that is, tourists, to arouse tourists' interest in sightseeing and to achieve the purpose of spreading local culture. At the same time, the information contained in tourist materials is mainly cultural, involving all aspects of culture, from historical archaeology to local conditions and customs, with unique national characteristics in China. Therefore, the translation of tourist materials is to transform information with China cultural characteristics into translation, which is the focus of tourist materials translation, but the cultural differences between China and the West have brought great difficulties to this cultural transformation. Some translations confuse foreign tourists, while others are disorganized and full of mistakes. Some translators forcibly translate according to Chinese syntax. Then the purpose of English translation can't be achieved-attracting tourists. For example, it's hard to imagine what kind of building this is. The following are some aspects related to tourism. Translation of tourist materials Although the translation of tourist materials should focus on the readers' culture and translation, foreign tourists are interested in different cultures in tourist materials, so the cultural information of the original text should be preserved to the maximum extent within the scope accepted by readers. If you don't make any changes in translation, it will not only confuse foreign tourists, but also lose interest in reading and fail to achieve the purpose of translation. Then the translator should increase or decrease the cultural points appropriately to make it easier for readers to accept, so he adopted the methods of deletion, interpretation, comparison and correction. Allusions are common cultural phenomena in tourist materials, which come from historical events, fables, myths, legends, proverbs and some works. It is characterized by a long history and rich ethnic color. Because of its fixed structure and meaning, it loses its referential meaning and has only pragmatic meaning. When readers can't understand the meaning of allusions after literal translation, they should make appropriate changes to allusions. Literal translation is adopted to annotate its background knowledge, explain its original intention and avoid losing its national color image and associative meaning. Free translation faithfully conveys the original information to the target readers, and sometimes appropriate cultural changes are needed. For example, why is "Jade Rabbit" translated into "Moon Rabbit" instead of "Jade Rabbit"? It was mistaken for a jade rabbit. The translation of tourist attractions plays a very important role in the introduction of tourist culture. Translators are required to fully study the historical and cultural background of scenic spots, and it is best to conduct actual field visits if possible. Find ways to bring foreign tourists closer to China culture, make them feel close and stimulate their fun. There are many famous events, heroes, allusions and legends in the long history of China, and many scenic spots often mentioned in tourist materials are often related to them. Ordinary foreign tourists can't understand without additional explanation. When translating tourist materials, sometimes deletion is very necessary. Because most foreign tourists read these materials in order to understand the customs of China and increase their interest in tourism. It is worth mentioning that there is polysemy in Chinese, so we should be more careful when choosing words in translation. For example, "Lou" has many corresponding words in English, so you can't just call it. Haoran Tower is translated into Haoran Mansion because it is a mansion, Yueyang Tower is translated into Yueyang Tower because its shape is similar to a tower, and Tiananmen Gate Tower is a famous building similar to the reviewing platform and gate tower, so it is translated into Tiananmen Gate Tower. Translation of Food Culture Due to historical and regional differences, many cuisines have formed in China. In translation, we should fully consider the cultural differences between China and the West, the ingredients of raw materials and cooking methods. If the zygote of leek is translated into a leek box, it will be puzzling. What is a leek box? See that "box" directly corresponds to "box"? It can be seen that the translator does not know enough about this traditional snack itself when translating the menu. How to solve this problem? I can't help thinking of the word "shuai", which not only refers to "jiaozi", but also includes other foods, such as zongzi, jiaozi, fried dumpling and so on. Shrimp dumplings can be translated into shrimp dumplings, and vegetarian pot stickers can be translated into vegetable dumplings 1ing. This English translation has been widely accepted. The zygote shape of leek is similar to that of jiaozi, which is larger and looks flat, and the word jiaozi can also be applied. Considering the production method and raw materials of leek zygote, the author suggests that it be translated into fried jiaozi with leek. Literal translation can be used in the translation of traditional food culture in China: cooking method+names of raw materials, such as steamed mandarin fish, cooked pork and stewed beef. Mapo Tofu Tofu Sichuan Style, Xiyuan Hotel. Braised lion's head is braised meatballs, and brown seeds are pyramid-shaped jiaozi. Since the reform and opening up, the international language environment in China has been significantly improved in the translation of public signs. Hosting the Olympic Games and the World Expo requires a good international language environment. However, when overseas tourists come to China and find some nonstandard public signs translated in English, such as "Entry Visa", "FeePark", "Ticket Office" and "No Entry", what will they think? In Beijing, famous street brands, such as "Chang 'an Street", have been set up at every street intersection. On the street sign, the Chinese character "Chang 'an Street" is placed above the Chinese phonetic alphabet "Chang 'an Street". Road signs like this in China can be seen at a glance only by looking at Chinese characters, without looking at pinyin; Overseas tourists don't understand Chinese characters, and the marked Chinese Pinyin won't understand what this "J IE" means. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to change the "JIE" of pinyin CHAN ganjie to "AVE" or "AVENUE"? The application function and characteristics of public signs are applied to all aspects of daily life, so they also directly affect all aspects of our lives. The different application functions of public signs directly lead to the differences in language style and tone of English-translated public signs. Public signs with outstanding service and indication functions are widely used in tourism facilities, scenic spots, tourism services, commercial facilities, cultural facilities, sanitary facilities, street names, tourism information consultation and other fields. Such as: international departure, internet cafes, drinking water, shopping centers, information inquiry services and logistics services. Public signs highlighting the functions of prompting, restriction and compulsion are widely used in public transportation, public facilities and emergency rescue, such as turning right, slowing down, and no parking. It is forbidden to use uncommon words, and the vocabulary selection of English public signs attaches great importance to publicity, strictly avoiding the use of uncommon words, old sayings, slang and terms. Chinese-English translation of public signs must be one-to-one translation of public signs with the same function in the same use situation in both Chinese and English cultures. Some public information with local significance in China has been confirmed as necessary to be preserved. When we can't find the corresponding translation method for the time being, we should choose the appropriate form and style for trial translation according to the actual functional needs, and then test it among some overseas tourists. Only when it is confirmed that there will be no misunderstanding can it be widely used. In a word, China must attach importance to the role of tourism English translation in order to achieve the goal of becoming the largest tourist destination country in the world in 2020. Analyze the differences between Chinese and western languages and cultures, flexibly use various translation techniques, properly translate tourist materials, and pay attention to the differences between languages and cultures. A good English translation of tourism will arouse the beauty and yearning of foreign tourists and help them appreciate the mellow charm of China's ancient civilization.
