History of Tugenhart Villa

The original furniture was only kept in the wardrobe. Tugendhat and his wife come from a Jewish family and are entrepreneurs in the textile industry. They have only lived in this villa for eight years. They 1938 went to Venezuela and left the villa forever. 1June 939, the villa was taken over by the Gestapo. 1944, the villa was destroyed by a bomb that exploded in the garden. The bombed house remained until the end of the war, and the damaged furniture could not be repaired. At the end of April 1945, the Red Army troops came here, which was later used as a stadium. The villa began to open to the public in September, 1985, but it was not open to the public, but has always been regarded as "the only symbol of Brno city".

The villa was handed over to the museum in Brno and opened to the public. At the end of 1995, the city decided to decorate a floor with replicas as it is. This is an important step in the reconstruction of the whole house.
