1. Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is a national 5A tourist attraction and one of the historical blocks that survived the demolition and construction in the old city of Fuzhou after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is the source of history, the root of culture, and the place where Fuzhou’s cultural heritage flourishes.
2. Since the formation of the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys in the Jin and Tang Dynasties, it has been a gathering place for nobles and scholar-bureaucrats, and it has reached glory from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China. There are about 270 ancient dwellings in the area, and 159 are listed as protected buildings. The ancient building complex of Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, represented by nine typical buildings including Shen Baozhen's Former Residence, Lin Juemin's Former Residence, and Yan Fu's Former Residence, has been announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
3. Fuzhou City was first named "Ye" during the Qin and Han Dynasties, and was later renamed "Fuzhou" because of a Fushan mountain in the northwest of the city. Fuzhou is surrounded by mountains and rivers and has beautiful natural scenery. It has also been the central capital city of Fujian Province, so it has gathered a large number of local big families and celebrities from ancient times to the present. The now-famous "Three Lanes and Seven Alleys" have been home to many celebrities in modern Chinese history such as Yan Fu, Chen Baochen, Lin Juemin and Lin Changmin.
4. Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is a large-scale and well-protected historical and cultural block in China. It is known as the "living fossil of China's urban lifang system" and the "Chinese Ming and Qing Architectural Museum". On June 10, 2009, the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys Historical and Cultural Street was awarded the honorary title of "China's Top Ten Historical and Cultural Streets" approved by the Ministry of Culture and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. The scenic spot will be open to medical workers nationwide free of charge from the date it resumes operations until December 31, 2020.
5. In May 2014, it was recognized as one of the first 9 provincial-level historical and cultural blocks in Fujian Province.
