Dachang Ancient Town was built in the Ming Dynasty. In the seventh year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1471), Wei Jin, the county magistrate, built the city wall. In the second year of Zhengde (1507), the county magistrate Dong Zhong built additional east, west and south gates. In the twenty-sixth year of Jiajing (1547), the city was rebuilt. In the ninth year of Jiaqing (1804), earth forts were built and the city gates were reinforced. The Wen Family Courtyard
The Wen Family Courtyard is the largest and best-preserved building in the ancient town.
This building, built in the early Qing Dynasty, faces east and west and covers an area of ??more than 320 square meters. The courtyard consists of three parts: the entrance hall, the main hall, and the back hall. They are all made of wooden beams and have 12 columns and 37 beams. The window lattice has wood carvings and exquisite craftsmanship. The entire building has a bucket-type structure. You can enter through the front door and exit through the back door. According to Wen Guanglin, the tenth generation grandson of the Wen Family Courtyard, his ancestor was a governor of the Qing Dynasty and he started building the Wen Family Courtyard while he was still alive. In fact, the Wen Family Courtyard is just a microcosm of Dachang, a thousand-year-old town. As early as 227 BC, Dachang was the seat of Wuxian County at that time. Later generations gradually understood the history of Dachang from a large number of unearthed cultural relics through continuous archaeological discoveries. In 2000, through archaeological research on the ancient town, the Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences preliminarily concluded that the ancient town of Dachang may have been the capital of the Ba people in the past.
Guandi Temple
It is located about 300 meters northeast of the ancient city. It is a Qing Dynasty building with a construction area of ??810 square meters. It has a wooden structure and faces south from the north.
