What are the main tourist resources of ancient buildings in China?

Ancient architecture refers to ancient civil and public buildings with historical significance and buildings including the period of the Republic of China, which has distinct regional, national, contemporary, scientific and artistic characteristics. It comprehensively reflects the scientific, technological, cultural and artistic level reached by a nation in a certain historical period, and is the symbol of material life, production and spiritual civilization at that time. Ancient buildings are not only important materials for historical research, but also very ornamental human landscape resources. The tourist resources of ancient buildings in China mainly include palace buildings, engineering buildings, mausoleum buildings, residential buildings, garden buildings and religious buildings. As the capital, there are rich ancient architecture tourism resources, including the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the Ming and Qing imperial cemeteries and quadrangles in Beijing, Dule Temple and Fengqing Street in Tianjin, the summer resort in Hebei, Zhao Zhouqiao and Shanhaiguan.

Among all kinds of ancient buildings, palace buildings are especially favored by tourists, because palaces in previous dynasties were places where emperors lived and handled state affairs, and they were the highest-standard buildings at that time. In order to show their supreme dignity and authority and satisfy their luxurious enjoyment, the rulers of past dynasties poured the wealth of the whole country, gathered skilled craftsmen at home and abroad and built magnificent luxury palaces for themselves. Rich and precious collections and major historical events related to this make this palace full of mysterious colors. The Temple of Heaven (see Figure 3- 1) and the Forbidden City are the most representative palace buildings.
