Due to the need for epidemic prevention and control, Longmen Grottoes will be closed starting from January 5, 2022. Specific opening hours will be notified later. In order to further strengthen the epidemic prevention and control measures in Longmen Scenic Area, strictly implement the epidemic prevention and control work arrangements, and ensure the safety of tourists, in accordance with the spirit of the "Notice of Luoyang Municipal Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism Bureau on Further Improving Epidemic Prevention and Control Work", Longmen Scenic Area will start from January 2022. It will be temporarily closed to the outside world from March 5, and all related tourism reception services and the ongoing "Tour Longmen for Free for Henanese" activities will be suspended at the same time. The opening time will be notified later.

Introduction to the Longmen Grottoes Scenic Area

The Longmen Grottoes are included in the World Cultural Heritage List and are a must-visit attraction in Luoyang, Henan. With the Yi River as the boundary, the grottoes are divided into two parts, the West Mountain and the East Mountain. Most of the Dongshan Grottoes are works of the Tang Dynasty, while the Xishan Grottoes excavated in the Northern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynasties are the essence of Longmen, including the Rushena Buddha statue in Fengxian Temple and the "Twenty Products of Longmen" in Guyang Cave.
