1998-2009 Host country of world tourism day

As early as 197 1, the International Federation of Official Tourism Organizations, the predecessor of the World Tourism Organization, put forward the idea of creating this festival according to the opinions of official tourism organizations of African countries. After a lot of preparatory work, 1979 September, the Third Congress of the World Tourism Organization officially decided that September 27th was world tourism day. This day was chosen because the International Union of Official Tourism Organizations adopted the constitution of the World Tourism Organization to be established at the special congress held in Mexico City on September 27th, 1970, so it is of commemorative significance. In addition, this day happens to be just after the tourist season in the northern hemisphere and just after the tourist season in the southern hemisphere, which is also a good time for people all over the world to spend their holidays. Starting from 1980, the countries concerned organize a series of celebrations every year, such as issuing stamps, holding postcard exhibitions, launching new tourist routes and opening up new tourist spots.
