Scenic spots in Kagawa Prefecture

Kagawa Prefecture is home to the beautiful Seto Inland Sea National Park and the historic Zentsuji Temple, Kotohira-gu Shrine, Yashima, Ritsurin Park and other places of interest. It is one of Japan's famous tourist destinations.

Ritsurin Park: covers an area of ??75 hectares and is divided into two gardens, north and south. The park was built in the middle of the 17th century. Over the next 100 years, many generations of feudal lords of the "Ikoma" and "Matsudaira" families improved and restored it, making it one of Japan's famous gardens. The 13 islands and 6 lakes in the park coordinate with the surrounding trees to form a stable and beautiful world.

Yashima: It is a peninsula in the Seto Inland Sea. Before the 17th century, it was completely an island. However, in order to develop farming in the future, the surrounding sea area was reclaimed into land. Yashima is 300 meters above sea level and covered with pine forests. It is a beautiful scenic spot in the Seto Inland Sea. In 1185, it was the place where the Minamoto clan and the Heira clan fought.

Zentōji Temple: It is one of the three holy places of Shingon Buddhism in Japan. It is the most famous place among the 88 spiritual sites in Shikoku. It is also the place where Kobo Daishi Kukai was born. The temple was built between 8O7 and 813 and suffered two fires in the 19th century.
