Laoshan (called 1509 highland in Vietnam) is located on the Sino-Vietnamese border south of Chuantou Village, Tianbao Town, Malipo County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and spans between the original Sino-Vietnamese boundary pillar 12 and boundary pillar 13. Laoshan Mountain is high in the west and low in the east, steep in the north and slow in the south, with an altitude of 1000- 1400 meters. Among them, the elevation of the main peak is 1422.2 meters, towering into the sky, which is more than 1260 meters away from the bow area below the mountain. The whole area is steep and deep, with an average slope of about 40 degrees and a slope of 60-70 degrees near the main peak. Just north of the main peak is a 60-meter-high cliff, which cannot be climbed.
With the main peak as the center, the three ridges extend to the northeast, northwest and south, which are in full swing and easy to defend but difficult to attack.
The main roads in the area are Malipo-Bow Highway and Malipo-Mengdong Highway, all of which are gravel roads with good traffic conditions. From the bow to Qingshui and Hejiang in Vietnam, there is expressway, which is connected with Highway 7 in Vietnam. From Tianbao Farm to Nanlang, from the bow to Mangun, from Liu Yao to Bajiaoping, from Tianbao Farm to Pianma, there are simple dirt roads, which are accessible in sunny days and impassable in rainy days. Before 1979, there were three hunter trails in the mountains. Later, due to the threat of the Vietnamese army, the paths that no one took were covered with thatch, and the traces were difficult to distinguish.
