Today, we will introduce Bamei Village, located in the north of Guangnan County, Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is said that the village needs to be entered and exited by boat. Special houses

There are two main types of houses in Bamei Village: pillar and fence types: floor-to-ceiling and half-story houses. The main house was built of wooden planks, surrounded by branches and then coated with clay made from soil and cow dung. It is well ventilated and warm, and is covered with tile roofs, booths, balustrades or fences. People live upstairs, livestock are raised and debris is piled downstairs. The local Zhuang people call it Malan Tower, and some people call it Diaojiao Tower. These old-fashioned household buildings, such as Malan House, highlight their historical style and are living fossils of traditional Zhuang architecture.

Specialty Food

The villagers in Bamei Village basically produce their own food, clothing, housing and transportation. Rotating waterwheels, canoes, artificial stone mills, water mills, wooden hammers, and water weaving can be seen everywhere in the village. Machine, wooden oil press, wooden bellows, wooden pear, wooden back wooden frame, wooden ladder, wooden chopping board. Their simple and rough appearance solidifies history and conveys ancient cultural information.

Accommodation in Bamei

If you want to enjoy the trip, it is recommended to stay back in Guangnan County. The best hotel in the county is the Te'anna Club. If you want to experience the farmhouse style, you can choose to stay at Bamei Farmhouse. You can also stay in Ako Town from Bamei. There are many farmhouses available for accommodation in Bamei Village. Farmhouses with better accommodation conditions in the village include: Big Banyan Tree, Fuliang Farmhouse, Green Man Island, Teahouse, Yuanxiyuan Inn, etc.

National Costumes

The clothes worn by the villagers of Bamei Village are all made of handmade homespun cloth. In rural areas, the entire process of growing cotton, spinning, weaving, bleaching and dyeing, making clothes, and making flowers is done manually on a family basis. The women's clothing is a black plaid handkerchief, black, blue, and purple round collar, narrow sleeves, narrow waist, bird-wing circular skirt with left slant, black pleated trousers and embroidered cloth shoes. The attire is a black handkerchief, floral scarf, blue, black and white round collar, wide sleeves, wide waist, left diagonal round dress, black trousers, embroidered cloth shoes; men's clothing is a black headband handkerchief, black double-breasted clothes, wide crotch pants . Bird clothing is related to the bird worship of ancient Zhuang ancestors. The clothes of the local Sha and Nong people are not much different.

Tips:

1. Transportation: Kunming to Guangnan is 480 kilometers away. Kunming South Bus Station has buses to Guangnan every day. The journey lasts 8 hours, and you will stay in Guangnan that night. The next day, I took a bus from Guangnan to Bamei.

2. Folk activities: Dragon Boat Festival, fishing, Water Splashing Festival, singing, playing with lions, playing leaf ball, and practicing ancient weapons.

3. Time arrangement: The main purpose of visiting Bamei is to experience the special folk customs and living environment here, so you need to stay here for more time and cannot just take a quick look. It is advisable to take 2-3 days.
