Shunxi Chen Shi dwellings

Most of the Chen dwellings in Shunxi are ancient buildings, and their ancestors were named Chen. In the Ming Dynasty, Qin Long moved his family from Da 'ao to Shunxi. After more than a hundred years of life and reproduction, it spread to Chen Jiaxun (169 1 ~ 1760) in the early Qing Dynasty, and began to build the first big house. His descendants separated from their ancestral home, set up another door and rebuilt the big house in the place they chose. The style is similar to the ancestral home, but the area is different. There are five existing big houses: Qingkang Ganzu House, Chen, Chen Anren, Chen Zuoda House and Jia Dao Chen Chongren House. The ancestral flat building is in the shape of an east, with the central longitudinal axis as the main body and the horizontal axis as the supplement. It has a portal, a front hall, a middle hall and a back hall in turn. There are Zoumalou on both sides of the horizontal frame, and courtyards such as cloisters are behind the horizontal frame. There are 9 rooms in each hall, and the rooms are spacious and open. The building complex is divided into six courtyards by a circular corridor, which are independent but adjacent to each other. The portals are opposite, and the cloisters are connected in series, extending in all directions and strewn at random. There are 6 patios and 99 suites. Surrounded by high walls, with a total area of 4,200 square meters. The portal is made of long and thick stones and hung on the top of the mountain. It is covered with cylindrical tiles and flagpoles are erected on both sides of the portal. There are ancient plaques hanging in the hall, and the room is of bucket-beam mixed structure. The roof hangs from the top of the mountain, decorated with kisses, beautifully carved doors and windows, vivid and thick columns and square bluestones, arranged in an orderly manner. There are many huge ancient buildings in mountain towns, which are rare in the world. Therefore, the folk proverb "there are bamboos in the street and big houses along the stream" has been circulating among Pingyang people for a long time. Its unique design and exquisite craftsmanship are amazing. 1997 is listed as the fourth batch of cultural relics protection units in Zhejiang province.
