When is the Pegasus Festival?

The Pegasus Festival is July 16th.

On July 16, 2023, the 31st China Xinjiang Yili Tianma International Tourism Festival with the theme of "Meet the hometown of Tianma·Retell the myth of the Silk Road" was held at Tianma Tourism in Zhaosu County The cultural park opened grandly, and the "Pastoral Zhaosu Hometown of Tianma" opened its arms and warmly welcomed guests and friends from all over the world.

The opening ceremony's theatrical performance consists of chapters such as "Preface", "Silk Road Myth", "Pegasus Legend" and "Continuous Inheritance", including Pegasus Waist Drum, Horse Show, Silk Road Camel Bells, Mythical Battlefield, Xijun and His Marriage, etc. The exciting program comprehensively displays the unique natural scenery, cultural landscape and folk customs of Zhaosu County. The opening ceremony of the 2023 Pegasus Festival has made more adjustments in the overall scale and program design. In order to show the charm of the hometown of Pegasus, more than 100 horses will take to the stage during the opening ceremony to meet the actors and the audience.

Tianma Culture

Zhaosu County is located in the southwest of Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, in the westernmost section of the Ili River Valley. It is the only county in Xinjiang without desert; Zhaosu County is endowed with unique land and water resources , with excellent agricultural and animal husbandry resources, covering 1.5 million acres of high-quality chernozem cultivated land and 7.3695 million acres of world-class high-quality natural grassland, it is the birthplace of China’s Ili Horse; Zhaosu County has a long history of horse culture, with Tianma culture, military horse culture, and national Horse Culture is a horse culture leisure and tourist area with rich heritage, and is known as the "Hometown of Pegasus Horses in China".

The current "Tianma Festival" activities will last until late October. What is different from usual is that this series of "Tianma Festival" activities are closely centered on "Meeting in the hometown of Tianma and telling the myth of the Silk Road" With the theme, more than 21 series of activities were carried out in the three major sections of "pre-heating section", "cultural tourism series activities" and "all-region tourism, fun in Zhaosu", attracting many tourists to come for sightseeing and experience.
