What is there to do in Bloomington, Indiana?
Bloomington, Indiana is actually a small town that has become prosperous because of the Indiana University Bloomington campus. If you are traveling to Bloomington, Indiana, you may consider visiting some of the following places:
Indiana University Bloomington (IUB). This school is ranked among the top ten most beautiful campuses in the United States. The entire school has different scenery throughout the year. Basically, it is a must-visit place when traveling to this place. If time is limited, you can go to the Wells Library, the largest library in the school, and the green space next to it. Not far from the library is the art gallery. The art gallery and the concert hall are together, and you can see the Mermaid Fountain. Another place worth visiting is the sample gate (IUB's gate). Although the entire school has no walls, this gate is the symbol of the school.
Bloomington main street (main street): The street name is Kirkwood Avenue. Just exit the sample gate. There are many small shops, bars and restaurants on this street. A 5-minute walk along the road will bring you to Bloomington Public Library. If you turn your back to the sample gate on Kirkwood and walk a block on the left, there will be many restaurants from different countries (Thai, Indian, Turkish, etc.).
Colleage Mall: If you want to buy clothes or something, you can take bus No. 9 from in front of the sample gate or well library to the college mall. Although this mall is not big, it is a bit like a domestic shopping mall, with different stores to browse.
If you have a car, then you can also consider the following places:
Monroe Lake: It takes about 30-40 minutes to drive. It is the most beautiful to go in spring, summer or autumn, and there are A section of the road will be on the water. When you drive out of the lush woods, the feeling of suddenly opening up and seeing lakes on both sides is shocking to me no matter how many times I go. In summer you can also go to the lake and rent a boat to play on the lake.
Brown County State Park: It takes about 40-60 minutes to drive, on the way to Nashville IN. You can drive in the park, and there are many places where you can turn in and stop to look at the scenery, take photos, and rest. There will be an entrance fee when entering the park, which is about 5-10 US dollars for a car. Remember to ask for a map.
Nashville IN: If you go out from the entrance of State Park and continue walking down, you can see Nashville. This is a very beautiful town with a main street running through it. There are many Small shop. You can stop for lunch
Edinburgh Premium Outlets: This is a large discount store center. Basically, most brand discount stores can be found here. You only need to turn right at the intersection before entering Nashville, then get on Highway 65 and drive north to see it.
So if you have a car and have about 2-3 days, I suggest you spend one day visiting the campus and the main street of Bloomington, and the other day you can drive towards the Outlets, and take the lake on the way. I’ve seen all the state parks (lake requires a slight detour, so you can also schedule a separate day to see it). Attached is a map below, as well as the outlet's official website where you can check the opening and closing times:
