Preferred route:

1. Climb the Duoxiong La Snow Mountain from Paixiang, pass through Khanmi, Lage, and Beibing. It takes 3-4 days to get to Medog. This road is currently the main passage to Medog. When you come back, you might as well go up from Yarlung Zangbo to 108 kilometers, and then cross the Galongla Snow Mountain to Bomi, which will take 3-4 days.

Medog itinerary:

1. Milin---Paixiang: On the way, you can find a car at the Medog Office in Bayi or the Linzhi Military Region. There are very few vehicles on the road. You can take a ride and walk, and the journey is 90 kilometers.

2. Transfer station---Lage: The transfer station is 5 kilometers away from Paixiang. It is a small market with food and accommodation. It takes 3 hours to get to Songlinkou, 1.5 hours to Duoxionla Pass by car on the winding road, and 5 hours to Lage. You can stay here. Lage --- Khanmi: It takes 2.5 hours to get to Big Rock Cave and 5 hours to Khanmi. There is a military station and several reception stations where you can stay.

3. Khanmi--Beibeng Township: 4 hours to Aniqiao, then 7 hours to Beibeng, where you will stay at the township government guest house. (Note: Apply for a border permit at the Bayi Town Armed Police Border Defense Brigade, because you will be subject to interrogation when crossing the Jiefang Bridge checkpoint. Also, do not take pictures of the bridge, and put your camera away before crossing the bridge to avoid forced exposure.)
