Self-driving trip from Xi'an to Chifeng, please give some advice!

First of all, welcome to Chifeng.

Let’s talk about the two lines:

It is not recommended to take Chengde-Chifeng for line 1, because this section of the road is under construction of an expressway and will not be open until mid-November. If you want to go to Chengde, you can go from Chengde-Weichang-Bashang-Ulanbutong (within Chifeng Keshiketeng Banner). The cost is less if you go to Hohhot.

There is nothing to do or see on Route 2, but it will take less time and save money.

I will help you design a route: Xi'an - Shanxi - Datong - Zhangjiakou, Hebei - Xilinhot - Chifeng Keshiketeng Banner - Chifeng City - Chengde - Beijing - transiting Hebei - Shanxi - Xi'an. If you must go to Chengde, you can take Chifeng-Pingquan and take the G25 Changshen Expressway-Chengde. Or Chifeng G111-Weichang-Chengde-Shanghai Expressway-Beijing. Because I don’t know where you want to go, and I don’t know which places you must go to, I can only help you roughly design this route. If you have any questions, ask me. There is no substantial difference in cost between the two lines. The difference in fuel costs and tolls between the two lines will not exceed 500 yuan.

Issues to note:

1. Pay attention to safety when taking the Inner Mongolia Grand Channel. There are few people and cars on the first-level roads, but there are many level crossings, which are dangerous. Be sure to control your speed.

2. Do your homework well. It is a good season for road construction in the north now. Knowing where to build roads well will get twice the result with half the effort.

3. Bring more clothes. The nights in the grassland are very cold, especially the nights after rain. Thick sportswear, thick sweatshirts and thin shirts will not make you hot.
