Zhuzhou, formerly known as Jianning, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province. It is located in the east and north of Hunan Province, downstream of Xiangjiang River, bordering Pingxiang, Lianhua, Yongxin and Jinggangshan in Jiangxi Province in the east, Hengyang and Chenzhou in the province in the south, Xiangtan in the west and Changsha in the north. Zhuzhou City governs Tianyuan District, Lusong District, Hetang District and Shifeng District, Zhuzhou County, Youxian County, Chaling County and Yanling County, and manages Liling City at the county level.
