1999, the World Horticultural Exposition with the theme of "Man and Nature-Towards 2 1 century" was successfully held in Kunming, the "Spring City", which was also the first professional exposition held in China, accumulating experience and confidence for holding a comprehensive exposition in China. The Kunming World Horticultural Exposition lasted 184 days, with 9.5 million visitors at home and abroad.

With the artistic layout of China classical gardens and natural winding paths, it embodies the design concept of following nature and conforming to nature. 69 countries and 26 international organizations participated in the Expo.
