Tourist features of Shandong Veterans Memorial Square

This is the only patriotic education base in the province that fully demonstrates the spirit of the "Shandong Soldiers". After an inspection and decision by the relevant departments of the Shandong Provincial Military Region, the Shandong Provincial National Defense Education Office specially awarded the Shandong Veterans Memorial Square the honorary title of "Shandong Provincial National Defense Education Base".

The square consists of two parts: the Veterans Memorial Wall and the Kinmen Battle Monument.

In the middle of the Veterans Memorial Wall is a group of large-scale reliefs. The theme of the reliefs shows the scenes of Shandong soldiers marching south and north, charging into battle, and heroically killing the enemy during the Liberation War. Under the relief is the handwriting of Chi Haotian, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission - "Shandong Veterans Memorial Square". On both sides of the relief are walls made of black marble. The names of veteran soldiers are engraved on the walls with "Army" as the organizational unit. The names of 27,262 veterans have been engraved on the memorial wall, all of which are 12 corps that were born in Shandong or were mainly formed by Shandong troops. The names of the first corps chiefs of these 12 corps and the brief combat histories of the troops are also on the wall.

The Kinmen Battle Monument is 5 meters high and 7 meters wide. It is a large round sculpture in the shape of a warship. The front of the sculpture is engraved with the scene of soldiers braving enemy fireworks to land on the beach, and the back is engraved with the names of 1,088 combatants who have been recruited.

According to relevant plans, the "Chinese People's Liberation Army Shandong Veterans Memorial Hall" will be built next to the memorial square, and relevant historical relics are being collected.
