Brief introduction of Yichang

Yichang was called Yiling in ancient times, named after "water is here, the mountain is here, and the mausoleum is here". It was renamed "Yichang" in Qing Dynasty, which is the hometown of famous historical figures such as Qu Yuan, Lei Zu, Wang Zhaojun and Yang Shoujing.

Yichang is the starting point and the location of the Three Gorges Project. There are 468 hydropower stations (including Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam), with 0.2% of the country's land equipped with 7% of the country's hydropower installed capacity, which is known as the "hydropower capital of the world".

Yichang is an excellent tourist city in China. By May 2022, there were 52 A-level scenic spots in Yichang, including 8 scenic spots above 4A level and 4 scenic spots above 5A level.

Yichang is an important comprehensive transportation hub in Hubei Province, with major traffic arteries such as Hanyi Expressway, Hanyi Railway, Liu Jiao Railway and National Highway 3 18. Yichang BRT was put into operation from 2065438 to July 2005. It is the BRT system with the longest single line, the most stations and the most advanced technology in China. On April 2, 20 17, Yichang District of China (Hubei) Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially unveiled.
