Zhejiang Zhoushan Tourist Attractions: Opium War Ruins Park

The Opium War Ruins Park is located in Zhushan, Dinghai, the ancient battlefield site of Zhoushan Opium War, covering an area of 10 hectares. It is a memorial park describing the second frontal battle of the Opium War in China in 1840.

On July 5, A.D. 1840, the Opium War broke out and the British army shelled Haicheng. The next day, the city fell. Even Changge in Dinghai Town, Wang Xipeng, the company commander of Shouchun Town, and Zheng, the company commander of Chuzhou Town, led an army of 5,800 people and fought bloody battles with the enemy for six days and nights, and died heroically one after another. This campaign was an important one for China to resist British aggression in modern times. In order to praise the martyrs, show future generations and carry forward the spirit of patriotism, Zhoushan Municipal People's Government decided to build a park in Dinghai Zhushan, the ancient battlefield site of Zhoushan Opium War.

There are Zhoushan Opium War Memorial Hall, "Three Generals" Memorial Square, Hundred Generals Monument, Pride Pavilion, the relocated "Three Loyalty Temple" and the tombs of soldiers killed in the war against Britain. And was named as a patriotic education base. The name of the Opium War Ruins Park was inscribed by Qiao Shi, Chairman of the National People's Congress.

Zhoushan Opium War Ruins Park covers an area of 10 hectares. There are Zhoushan Opium War Memorial Hall, the "Three Generals" Memorial Square, the Hundred Generals Monument, the Pride Pavilion, the relocated Triple Temple and the ancient tombs of soldiers killed in the war against Britain.
