Yellow Knife Town, I don’t know whether it is the favor of the Creator or the miraculous workmanship of nature
It is the sixth year of travel, and I can’t count how many travel notes this is. However, Yellowknife is a little-known town. It always gives me a different feeling. It makes me want to stay but dare not.
Huangdao feels too much like a woman to me. There is a line of lyrics: "In the dead of night, someone can hear me crying. In the dim light, someone can see me dancing." Huang Dao is like a woman who no one cares about. During the day, she is ordinary and can no longer be ordinary. At night, she would come out to dance and sing wildly. She looks a little quiet and elegant, but sometimes her beauty can be crazy and heart-warming.
The first time I learned about Huangdao was not from reading travel notes or seeing any travel agency advertisements. Instead, I read a book called "Northwest Passage Solo". The author is David Scott Cowper, a sailing explorer. This book is a bit historical, written in 1990, and records his adventure history from 1970 to 1990. Yellowknife appears in this book as a gold mining location. This was my first impression of Huangdao. At that time, I only knew that the aurora could be seen in Yellowknife, but my interest in the aurora was not as strong as my interest in the history of the gold rush, until I saw the legendary northern lights with my own eyes...
In this book In the book, one word is used repeatedly to describe Huangdao. "Tantalizing". Literally translated as "tempting".
Yes, Yellowknife is such an attractive place, with gold and beautiful scenery. To put it bluntly, at my age. There is no pursuit of money anymore. The only thing that stirs my heart in Huangdao is the beautiful scenery. It’s hard to imagine that at my age, I can still be moved by certain landscapes in this world and be moved by them. Maybe this "except Wushan is not the cloud" is not enough.
When I began to have the term "Yellow Knife" in my heart, my life began to prepare for him. I never imagined that David would sail around the world alone in a broken boat. I just want to see what the "girl" with the yellow knife will look like after being crazily snatched away by humans for her gold.
I wanted to take the train to Yellowknife. Unexpectedly, this town has no train connection yet. Think about it, this is a tundra zone, so the cost of building a railway should be very expensive. I don't like flying, so I chose to drive to Yellowknife. I'm single, so I feel relaxed. It doesn't matter if I get a little bit tired on the road. My car is an 8-year-old Chevrolet Cruze, which follows me all over the country, from the east coast to the west coast of the United States. Now follow me to Yellowknife again. I started from Vancouver and had to go to Edmonton to visit a friend. After all, the time spent on the road is 6 days.
Google Maps showed that it would arrive in one day, but I didn’t know why it took me six days to get there. On the way from Edmonton to Yellowknife, I drove very slowly due to poor signal and poor road conditions. After about 600 kilometers past Edmonton, there was no signal at all. I usually like to think about problems while driving, but I didn’t have much energy to think about this trip. I just felt very peaceful along the way. These five days were more like a spiritual practice. Whenever I encounter a gas station, I will fill up my tour limit. My trip is in April, and the road is from April 15th to April 21st. On the road, I can clearly feel that I am going further and further north, because The days are getting longer and longer, which may also have something to do with the fact that it is almost midnight. When I first set out, there were five hours of darkness. On April 15th, it was dawn at 5 o'clock in the morning in Edmonton. When we arrived in Yellowknife, we found that it was not completely dark at 12 o'clock, and it was already dawn at 4 o'clock in the morning. On the last day, when I drove to McKenzie River, I already saw a big tourist bus with the words "Aurora Story? Extreme Time Travel" written on it. That was the first time I felt that I might be approaching Yellowknife. (Later, because I really didn’t know how to find the aurora, I joined this travel agency. I felt that it was quite professional. They could always find where the aurora was.)
In addition to being relieved, I was also a little happy. I no longer need to look at the map, just follow this car and it will take me to Yellowknife. I followed this car for an hour, and the car in front suddenly turned into a small road. I’ve been driving for an hour and still haven’t arrived at Huangdao. I wonder if I took the wrong bus. I took out my mobile phone and looked at it, only to realize that it turned out that we were still 500 kilometers away from Huangdao. Anyway, I'm not that "goal-oriented" person, so I followed this tour bus into the small road. Because it said "private road?", I didn't follow it any further and just watched from the intersection.
I realized that this was a hunting place with "traps" to attract wild animals. I got out of the car and walked around and took some pictures. (It’s the end of April, and there’s still such thick snow). I sorted out the pictures a little bit.
(It looks much smaller in the picture. In fact, the pit is twice as big as my face. My curiosity will not dissipate so easily. Later I asked a tour guide, who said this It's a big hole left by the lynx when catching rabbits.
It turns out that I was so lucky to see the traces left by nature's species in the competition)
The wonderful thing is coming. I saw something staring at me on a large reef in the distance, a bit like It was a wolf. Because it was too far away to see clearly, I put down my phone and planned to take a picture with my camera to see what it was. When I picked up the camera and took a picture of him, he suddenly ran away and left this photo:
This photo became the most proud thing of my trip. It's a pity that I didn't take a picture of him looking at me on the reef.
What’s a bit funny is that when I later showed off this photo to the tour guide, he actually said it was a dog and gave me various reasons to say it was not a wolf but a dog (the reasons are as follows: I took this photo There are people living near the place in the picture. People who live in such a remote place keep dogs to prevent wolves from coming)
I said: "Is it because he is too fat that he is not a wolf? I have not seen it. There are no wolves this fat."
Tour guide: "The wolves here are all fat, and the thinnest one is similar to the one in this picture, but the shooting location is wrong, so this is not a wolf."
I think wolves should be very alert. When I took a picture of him with my cell phone, he didn't move. When I took a picture of him with my camera, he ran away immediately. According to my limited knowledge, the wolf will be worried that what you are taking out is a gun, so it will run away immediately. ?The dog will definitely not be afraid of this.
I would like to ask netizens to help me identify whether this is a wolf. (Netizens, please comment below and tell me your opinion. Is it a wolf or a dog?)
The sunshine here is really good. Although it looks snowy, it is very warm to lie down in the car. It is very comfortable and allows you to feel the endless sunshine and beauty of life. You would never imagine that it turns into a completely different scene at night.
It was already dusk when we continued driving. Although there was thick snow on both sides of the road, the snow on the road had already melted.
To my surprise, on the way back, I saw a buffalo. This picture is too unclear.
(Later, I also joined Aurora Story’s group, called “Canadian Wildlife Tour”. The place they came to was relatively close to here. It proved that this is indeed a place where buffalo often hang out.)
(I am very proud of the fact that on the day I joined the tour, we saw buffalo, deer, lynx, and mink, but not wolves. So I gave my photo of a wolf or a dog to the car. The people showed off. I said it was a wolf, and no one raised any objection)
I didn’t arrive at the hotel until 1 o’clock in the evening. I made a reservation on Ctrip and chose a cheaper one. The name is "Northern Light Motel". When I arrived, I discovered that the name was "Northern Light Motel". Shouldn't this be called "Northern Lights Hotel". Yes, there is no problem in translating it to "Northern Lightweight Motel".
This hotel is old and outdated, and the facilities are poor. I would not recommend it. But the price is good, suitable for a single guy like me who is not particular about accommodation.
When I got to the room, I found that the lighter was out of gas, so I went downstairs to buy a lighter. As soon as I left the hotel, I saw a touch of green on the horizon. Unexpectedly, this became my first encounter with the Aurora. Like a bump in the arms. What shocked me was not the aurora itself, but the fact that I, a grown man, could beat my heart when I saw the aurora. The last time I had this feeling of heartbeat was how many years ago it was.
Before coming, I saw netizens saying that you can’t take pictures of the aurora with your mobile phone. I took the photo, do you have anything else to say?
The two above were taken by me with my mobile phone.
I forgot that I was going to buy a lighter. I stopped and watched for a long time. I also want to take a group photo. I just felt the sadness of not having a girlfriend. When I wanted to take a photo, there was no one to help me take the photo.
The photo above is the most intense aurora I have ever taken. I'd better use some common sense and go to a place with less light pollution to see the aurora better. So I drove towards a place I didn’t know which direction it was. When you get out of the car in a very dark place, the aurora becomes like this.
I hate myself for missing the better auroras because I wanted to find a better location. While I was taking pictures of this aurora, I was approached by a girl who asked me to take pictures for her. It's a Korean girl.
Don’t think too much, the following may not be what you think. I'll post this photo as well
Can you guys help me analyze it? Is it because I took photos of other people's beauties like this that I didn't follow the story?
He is quite good-looking, but it’s not my fault that the light is too dark.
If you think my photos of others are too ugly, which is why there is no story below, please reply 1.?
If you think my photos are pretty good, please click praise. Thank you for helping me to have a better idea of ??my photography skills.
