Does a tourist visa require a certificate of no criminal record?

Legal analysis: required. Citizens and overseas personnel who are over 14 years old, have local household registration or have lived in the local area continuously for more than 6 months, and have legitimate reasons for application, can apply for a certificate of no criminal record with their ID card, residence permit and other valid documents. First, go to the Public Security Bureau to get a certificate of no criminal record, and then take it to the notary office. Valid for one year only. If there is a criminal record, the final judgment of the court needs to be notarized.

Legal basis: Article 286 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China. Anyone who was under 18 years old at the time of committing the crime and is sentenced to a penalty of not more than five years in prison shall be punished for the relevant crime. Criminal records shall be sealed.

Criminal records that have been sealed shall not be provided to any unit or individual, except when the judicial authorities need to handle the case or the relevant unit conducts inquiries in accordance with national regulations. Units that conduct inquiries in accordance with the law shall keep confidential the sealed criminal records.
