One-day trip to Diaoyu City Scenic Area

The ancient battlefield site of Diaoyu City is located at the intersection of three rivers (Jialing River, Qujiang River and Fujiang River) in Diaoyu City Street, Hechuan District, Chongqing. It is famous for the "Defense Battle of Diaoyu City" in the 36th year of the Southern Song Dynasty. It is known as the "Place of God's Breaking Whip" and its historical significance is highly praised. Some experts even believe that the Battle of Diaoyu City changed the world structure. Of course, today's Diaoyu City scenic spot is no longer what it used to be, but there are still some ancient battlefield sites and some ancient buildings from later generations.

The first time I went to Diaoyu City was in 2000. It was a collective spring outing organized by the school. After ferrying across the river, I walked along the dirt road. The one-way trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, but there is no admission during those days. This time we went on foot, starting from Hechuan Railway Station, crossing the Nanping Bridge on Jiangcheng Avenue, and walking along the Jialing River Township Road to Xiaota Village to the Visitor Center. The whole journey took about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Although I grew up by the Jialing River, I was fascinated by the wide surface of the river, which was sparkling and calm like a mirror lake.

Tickets are 60 yuan per person. The ticket gate is next to the Feilai Temple halfway up the mountain. It should be a rebuilt temple. On the cliff next to the city gate cave is engraved "The divine whip breaks at the city gate", and there are two square caves next to it. We suspect it may be a hiding place for soldiers, or the purpose of the hanging coffin.

Continue climbing the ladder to the National Guard Gate. This is the ruins of an ancient city wall several hundred meters long, where the trebuchet was originally placed. But most of the walls are new stone, and only the foundation stones on the edge of the cliff still have some traces of history. Standing on the city wall, overlooking the Jialing River and the farmland next to it, you can see the meandering beauty of Qujiang, Fujiang and Jialing Rivers from a distance. Walking along the city wall is the cornice cave, the gaps between the boulders, and the traces of the steep path under the rocks. It is said that this was used to convey military information and surprise attacks detected by the river.

On the left side of the National Guard gate, you can walk straight along the cliff and see the Zhongyuan Archway, Huguo Temple, Martyrs' Shrine, Jiukouguo Arsenal Ruins, and Mill Ruins. Guosi Temple is an ancient temple. Most of the houses are wooden structures and the carved archways are simple and elegant. Opposite the wall is the Martyrs Hall, which enshrines the tablets of Yu Jie, Ran Jin, Wang Jian and other warriors, and also displays some stone tablets and Buddha statues.

Going down from the steps of the Martyrs Hall are the mill ruins and the nine-mouth pot ruins. The rice trough and mortar and the large millstone in the mill ruins can still be clearly seen; the nine-mouth pot is the former site of the arsenal, and the pot-shaped pot The stone pit was used to grind nitrate, sulfur, and charcoal to prepare gunpowder. Walking straight along the stone stairs are the cliff carvings, the reclining Buddha, and the Three Sacred Rocks. In addition to tourists, there are also many faithful men and women who worship here.

In front of and to the right of the National Guard gate, straight ahead is the Zhaoshi County Government, ancient military camp, exhibition hall, etc. The county government office is not large, with a complete lobby and second hall. You can get a rough idea of ??the living pattern of ancient government offices.
