Daohou Hot Spring Museum: Oil House

Daohou Hot Spring, located in Songshan City, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, is one of the few well-documented prototype oil houses. It is said that Spirited Away's film crew visited Daohou Hot Spring and drew a sketch of the building here as a reference for the oil house. Taiwan Province Jiufen and Chongqing Hongyadong were misinformed, and Miyazaki Hayao himself came forward to refute the rumor.

Edo Tokyo Architectural Park

In an interview, Miyazaki Hayao once revealed that the background of Spirited Away's story comes from his childhood memories. The "Mysterious City" in the film is set in the Tokyo Tower Garden in Edo, and the Zibao soup here is one of the inspiration sources officially recognized by the oil mill.

The gorgeous interior design of the oil mill refers to Mu Ping Yasu Garden in Tokyo. The creator moved the carved gallery, painted columns, Meguiar's light and the rare treasures of Yasu Garden into the animation, making the oil mill in Spirited Away very lively.
