Shijing Temple

is located in Sichuan Province Tiancheng Mountain in Shijing Village, Chadian Township, Longquanyi District (Longquan Town), Chengdu City. 37 kilometers away from Chengdu. Shijing Temple was built around the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty (220 AD). In the 32nd year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1767), Siren, the pastor of Song Dynasty in Jianzhou, was impressed by his visit to the temple and presented a stone-engraved Diamond Sutra. Tiancheng Temple was renamed Shijing Temple. After several major renovations during the Qianlong and Jiaqing years, the temple became its current scale. Shijing Temple now covers an area of ??more than 200 acres. The main buildings include Zhaobi Mountain Gate, Tianwang Hall, Tuo Hall, Pagoda Forest, Daxiong Hall, Three Holy Temples, Kunling Hall, Patriarch Hall, Abbot's Courtyard, Master Hall Sutra Building and Five Views Hall. In 1983 and 1984, Zhao Puchu, President of the Buddhist Association of China and Vice Chairman of the Eighth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Shijing Temple twice and, in accordance with the wishes of Panchen Eyudeni Chokyi Gyaltsen, invited Master Nenghai to learn from Tibet. After he became a monk, he returned to Han District and founded the first Ximi fundamental monastery, which was built here by Jinci Temple and set up a secret altar. Therefore, Shijing Temple is one of the five major Buddhist forests in western Sichuan.
