Modern history of Sihong
In the founding of the Republic of China, Sizhou was renamed Si County, and the territory belonged to it.
In October 1940, the Northeast Anhui Prefectural Committee and Administrative Office of the Communist Party of China (later changed to the Huaibei Jiangsu-Anhui Border Region Party Committee and Administrative Office) were established. Sinan, Sisu, Siyang, Hongze and other anti-Japanese base areas and border districts and counties behind enemy lines.
In June 1947, Sinan County merged with the Huxi part of Hongze County to establish Sihong County, which was abolished in November.
On April 29, 1949, Sihong County was formally established by merging most areas of Sinan County, Sisu County, Hongze Lake Management Bureau, Longji and Jieji District of Siyang County. . It belongs to Jianghuai District, and later it was changed to Suxian District of Northern Anhui Administrative Office.
In 1952, it belonged to Suxian District of Anhui Province.
In March 1955, in order to strengthen the management of Hongze Lake, Sihong and Xuyi counties in Anhui Province were exchanged with Xiaoxian and Dangshan in Jiangsu Province, and Sihong County was placed under the Huaiyin Prefecture of Jiangsu Province.
In 1970, it belonged to Huaiyin region, and in 1983, it belonged to Huaiyin City.
In December 1985, the four townships of Baoji, Guanzhen, Xinglong and Tiefo in Sihong County were placed under Xuyi County, and the three towns of Bancheng, Linhuai and Chenghe in Hongze County were placed under Sihong County. .
In August 1996, Sihong County was transferred from Huaiyin City to Suqian City. The seat of the county government is Qingyang Town.
In March 2004, Chenji Town was transferred from Sihong County to Sucheng District.
In August 2005, Dalou Township and Chonggang Township were abolished and their administrative areas were merged into Qingyang Town. At the same time, Wulijiang Farm was merged into Qingyang Town.
In May 2006, Wulijiang Farm was managed by the County Economic Development Zone.
