On June 10, 2020, the 25th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th People’s Congress of Sanming City unanimously reviewed and approved the motion to submit for review some administrative division adjustments in our city, and agreed to cancel the Meilie District , Sanyuan District, establish a new Sanyuan District. Shaxian County was abolished and Shaxian District was established.

In other words, Shaxian County will no longer be an independent county in the future, but a district of Sanming City.

Sanming people have long heard about the withdrawal of Sha County from counties to districts, and the people of Sanming have already acquiesced in it. As early as 2013, when Shaxian County established a train station, the station was named Sanming North Station, instead of being called Shaxian Station like the original train station. Many outsiders want to travel to Shaxian County or taste snacks, but they don’t know that Sanming North Station is the Shaxian Railway Station.

After Shaxian County is removed from the county and changed into districts, Sanming will cancel Meili District and there will only be two districts, Xinsanyuan and Shaxian in the future.
