What should you pay attention to when traveling to Russia?
Travel Notes 1. Summers in Moscow and Petersburg are moderately cool. After September, the weather begins to get cooler. In winter, the temperature remains at about minus five to fifteen degrees in most cases. It is rainy in St. Petersburg in summer and autumn, so you must bring an umbrella; 2. The Russian national currency is the ruble, and other foreign currencies cannot be used directly. In order to facilitate shopping and consumption abroad and for safety reasons, tourists are asked to exchange rubles before leaving the country. Please consult your tour leader for specific matters. The tour leader will prepare rubles for you. Please bring RMB and exchange it at the airport. 3. Due to different living habits, Russian-style hotels do not provide toiletries and slippers, nor do they provide boiled water for drinking. Tourists must buy bottled water for drinking. The voltage in the room is 220 volts, and the socket uses a cylindrical plug, which does not match our country's flat blade plug. If you need to charge, please prepare a conversion plug in advance. 4. You should dress neatly when entering entertainment venues. Slippers, vests, shorts, etc. are not allowed. Friends who smoke, please note that when smoking in Russia, you must consider the environment. The general principle is to smoke outdoors. Smoking is not allowed in airports, hotels, shops, museums, train stations, train compartments, and political attractions around Red Square. 5. According to the traditional habits left over from the former Soviet Union, there is no bargaining on the prices of items sold in all stores in Russia. Products available for purchase include: Russian telescopes, Russian purple gold jewelry, Soviet officer watches, matryoshka dolls, crystal wine sets, amber products, French perfumes, Italian leather goods and stockings, black caviar, chocolate, vodka, Russian cigarettes, etc. Mobile phones and calling cards There are three major mobile operators in Russia, namely МТС, МЕГАФОН and БИЛАЙН. In order to facilitate the distinction, they are called here by their main colors: МТС is the red card, МЕГАФОН is the green card, and БИЛАЙН is the yellow card. The fees for applying for a mobile phone card in Russia will vary depending on the region, because most people enter the country from Moscow. Just like in China, there is roaming here, so if you apply for a card in Moscow and go to Petersburg, you have to activate the roaming discount service, otherwise it may cost 10 rubles a minute to answer a call. Recommended places to apply for the card are at the airport, underground passages in the city, stalls at subway entrances, and card application points in supermarkets. To apply for a card at a regular business hall, you need to present a visa on arrival, which is also known as a temporary residence permit. Generally, if you stay in one place for no more than five working days, you do not need to apply for a temporary residence permit. Therefore, tourists generally cannot apply for a phone card at the business office. When applying for a card at a stall, the card holder’s information does not need to be stored on the computer, so there is no need to show a temporary residence permit. Note: The method of dialing in Russia from a mobile phone with international roaming function is: 81086+area code (remove 0)+fixed phone number; the method of dialing from a mobile phone is: 81086+mobile number. It is recommended to contact the country via text message. The method is: +86+mobile phone number. Network environment It is not very convenient to access the Internet in Russia, and WiFi in most areas is charged. Most hotels in Moscow have Internet access, but the charges are very expensive, averaging 10-20 US dollars per day. 80% of places in downtown Moscow are covered by a monthly wireless network. For 500 rubles, which is about 150 yuan, you can have unlimited Internet access for one month. You can also choose to use a phone card to access the Internet in Moscow. Please consult your local operator for specific tariff details. Power Supply and Voltage The voltage in Russia is 220V, 50Hz, and the sockets are two-phase with rounded corners, the same as in Germany. Generally, hotels do not provide conversion plugs. Please bring your own conversion plug. It is recommended to purchase a Global Connect power socket converter before departure, which is very convenient.
