How to choose a tripod

The first point when choosing a tripod is practicality. It’s enough, there’s no need to spend money on features you don’t use. The second important point is good stability. The third point is easy to carry.

Everyone who takes part in photography will have a tripod. A tripod is a thing that people love and hate at the same time. I love it because in many environments you need to use a tripod to take photos. With a tripod, you can create more effects. It’s annoying because tripods are inconvenient to carry. Stable ones are not cheap, cheap ones are not portable, and portable ones are unstable! This is a topic that can never be unified.

Here are some personal thoughts on choosing a tripod.

The first point: Just be practical, don’t pursue the brand. Tripods are a rather deceptive item among photographic equipment, because there is a huge difference between cheap ones and expensive ones. Unlike lenses, new ones are basically the same price, and the price of second-hand ones won’t vary too much. If the difference is big, there must be quality issues. But tripods are different, ranging from tens of yuan to tens of thousands of yuan. There are all kinds of materials. So at this time, you have to be clear about what you want to use it for, and whether it is necessary to use a good tripod in the environment you are shooting.

Practical, consider two aspects. First, how big a tripod do you need for your equipment? If it is an ordinary lens or it is unlikely to use a telephoto lens in the future, then you can sell a stable A bit less sexual. Second, the environment you want to use, if you usually shoot in a relatively good environment. It will not be shot in extremely windy mountains, extremely cold snowy areas, or in high temperature environments. A regular one will do. If you want to shoot in such an environment, you may consider purchasing a professional tripod.

The second point is good stability. Stability is a relative indicator. If the environment you are in is good, it is stable; if the environment you are in is poor, it is unstable. Your device is stable if it is light, but unstable if it is large. Therefore, you should try to find one with good stability based on your actual situation. Stability is directly related to price. The better the stability, the more expensive the price. Judging from the current usage, the shelf on a certain product that costs around 200 yuan has good stability.

The third point is portability. This is very important. If you can’t feel it on the ground, you can try to go to the top of the mountain to take pictures of the sunrise or sunset. When you climb to the top of the mountain with a huge tripod, you will know how important portability is. If conditions permit and the same stability is achieved, try to choose a lighter and more compact tripod.

As the same saying goes, what is stable is not cheap, what is cheap is not portable, and what is portable is unstable! When choosing a tripod, you'd better take your camera to try it out. If you shop at a certain store and it's not suitable, you must change it. until it fits. The purpose is to choose the most stable tripod within your acceptable range. If it were more portable, it would be perfect.
