Chaibuxi Grand Canyon Travel Guide
Look at plants, look for insects, and enjoy the sea of ??clouds
Chaibuxi Grand Canyon is located in Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County, Yichang, Hubei. I took the high-speed rail to Yichang East with my children, and then rented a car to Chaibu Xi. It takes about 2 hours by car. If you choose public transportation, you can take a bus from Yichang to Yuyangguan Town, and then transfer to a through train in Yuyangguan Town to reach Chaibuxi Scenic Area. If you choose to sign up for a group tour, you can take the annual pass direct train from Yichang to Chaibuxi Scenic Area.
Currently, the Chaixi Grand Canyon is open to the public including Ladikou Scenic Area, Dawankou Scenic Area and Tanzikou Scenic Area. First, we arrived at the entrance of Tikou Scenic Area, and then transferred to the sightseeing car area. About 10 minutes later, we arrived at the cableway entrance and then transferred to the cableway to go up the mountain.
The Chaixi Cableway is said to be the steepest cableway in China! The maximum inclination angle of the ropeway reaches 44.9 (professional regulations stipulate that the maximum angle of ropeway construction shall not exceed 45)! Sitting on the ropeway, feeling the rapid rise in altitude, overlooking the canyon from a high altitude, with beautiful mountains and clear waters, shrouded in clouds and mist, the children seemed to be in a fairyland, making them scream with joy.
The steepest cableway in China
After getting off the cableway, we arrived at the Dawankou Scenic Area. We started walking along the plank road. Very suitable for hiking. You don't need to go up and down stairs all the time. Looking around, everything is green, as if entering a cool world. More importantly, unlike other mountains, there is no sunny side or shady side here, because the entire valley of Chaibu River is surrounded by green shade, with a forest coverage rate of up to 80%. No matter where you go, there are lush vegetation above your head, and you won't be scorched by the sun even on the sunny side. It feels like walking into a nature museum! It is said that the climate here is one of the three major features of Wufeng. "Chaibu Creek is a cool wonderland. There is no need to shake cattails in the hot summer." In summer, the average temperature is 22 degrees. No fans or mats required. Natural air conditioning is comfortable and natural.
Nature’s pavilion
It must be said that Chaibu River is both a botanical garden and a zoo. In Maolin, we saw the Chinese pigeon flower, a "living fossil" that survived hundreds of millions of years ago, as well as many rare tree species and precious medicinal materials. I take my children to learn about different plants, observe different insects, and seek knowledge from nature books.
"Chaibu Creek, a hundred miles of secluded gorges, and a wonderland of three thousand peaks"! Chaixi is in the style of a karst grand canyon, a typical canyon and peak forest landscape. Various stone pillars and strange peaks rise from the ground in the vast jungle, springing up like bamboo shoots after a rain, all over the banks of the dangerous valley that stretches for dozens of kilometers. The special images are "Magic Brush Peak", "Holy Water Guanyin" and "Duizui Stone". Let’s watch and guess together, and let our imagination run wild!
Duizuishi, Shenbi Peak and Holy Water Guanyin
It is said that the weather in the mountains is like a child's face, which changes as soon as you say it. The sky may be clear one second, and it may be pouring rain the next. If you happen to get caught in the rain, congratulations on your successful journey through Wonderland, because there must be a spectacular sea of ??clouds after the rain in Chaibu River. When the rain comes, cl
Step on the water and have a water fight
In the hot summer vacation, water is a child’s best friend! At the bottom of the Chaibu River Grand Canyon, a stream like a jade belt flows. The water in the river is crystal clear and shallow enough to be below your ankles. Many children rolled up their trouser legs and ran around in the creek, splashing in the water, fighting for water, and catching small fish. They all say that the cold wave is perfect for summer. We couldn't help but roll up our trouser legs and carefully stepped on the pebbles into the creek. Wow! The cool stream water slid briskly over our legs, and a chill surged from the soles of our feet to the top of our heads. The children who were just strangers soon started playing together.
Drinking wine and eating bacon
The Tujia people live in the mountains and rely on the mountains to eat. They ate food grown in the mountains, sang folk songs, and drank tea and chatted around the fire. Baskets are their most important household tools. When a girl gets married, she should make a small and exquisite "laundry basket" as a dowry; when a daughter gives birth to a child, her family will give her a "baby basket" specially designed to hold the child; when picking corn and millet, she must use a "high basket" with a thick mouth and a thin waist, which is higher than the head. To chop firewood and pull pigs and grass, use a "firewood basket" with a big belly that can withstand beatings. Because the basket is irreplaceable, there is a "pestle", which is a stick like a crutch under the basket, which can be used Come and rest. In the eyes of children, these things that we don’t come into contact with every day are full of fun and freshness.
Tujia people are warm and hospitable. At dusk, order a table of hearty Tujia dishes. Those who love drinking can taste the "mixed wine" brewed by the owner.
After brewing with cold water, they smoked it with a bamboo tube. On a hot summer day, it slides into the belly like a clear spring, sweet and bitter. The main course is homemade bacon, steamed fish, sauerkraut, slag, and some delicacies made by the Tujia people. Although it is simple, it is very refreshing and delicious, and it also increases appetite in summer.
The Ancient Tea Horse Road
After dinner, everyone sat in the yard and chatted about life in the mountains. Someone mentioned that in ancient times, this place was connected to the outside world through an ancient tea-horse road. On the way to the scenic spot, we couldn't help but think of this ancient road. The driver told us that this is an ancient tea-horse road from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more than 100 kilometers long, and is listed as one of the top ten new discoveries in the national cultural relics census. Because the children were very curious about the transportation channels of the ancient mule and horse period, we asked the driver to wait for a while and then walked into this ancient and primitive path.
Walking into the ancient road is like entering another world. The uneven bluestone streets were polished with thousands of feet, revealing the bustling scene of the ancient tea trade. The ears are like the endless sound of footsteps and horse hooves. Most of these ancient roads are built along the mountains, some on the ridges, and some on the mountainside or valley sides. If you have time, you might as well take a walk to experience the ancient tea ceremony deep in the mountains, see the stone road, ancient stone bridge, tea wharf, Boshidong, Wangye Temple and other historical relics left behind, and experience the ancient architecture The hardships and dangers of business.
